Although I miss my childhood Bank of Edwardsville, I have had several good contacts with Ryan in customer service. I think they went thru some turbulence during the takeover, but I think they got it squared away. Put it this way ... WAY better than Bank of America. It still has a "small bank" feel and it is easy to talk to a real person.

      Response from the owner

George...thank you for your kind comment! We strive towards giving excellent customer service.

Finally closed all my accounts. Been meaning to switch to a local bank ever since Busey took over Bank of Edwardsville. Since the take over, it has never been the same even to this day. Customer service is lacking, fees are outrageous and there is no incentive for staying with a bank that has no focus on the local community like the Bank of Edwardsville had.

      Response from the owner

Hi Thomas. I apologize for any negative experiences that you've had with our bank - this is certainly not the service that we strive to provide our customers.

As a lifelong customer of The Bank of Edwardsville, I was disappointed to hear that the hometown bank would be no more. While I was willing to give Busey a chance, my experience has been far from stellar since the take over. Hold times to speak with a customer service rep, from either their main support line or online chat, has been well over 30 minutes. Because there isn’t a sense of loyalty, I have been trying to figure out why should I remain with Busey when there are so many better options with higher deposit rates (3%-4% rates on a checking accounts at a local hometown credit unions). With the issues I’ve experienced, and the fact Busey is not, nor will it EVER be, The Bank Of Edwardsville, it doesn’t make sense to stick around as loyalty in the banking world means nothing these days. Once you get comfortable and recognize the people at one branch, a merger comes along and you’ve got start all over. While I applaud Busey executives for trying to portray the conversion as a good thing for the community, and force their employees to tell us that Busey will continue to adopt the same values and experience as the Bank of Edwardsville - we all know that isn’t the case. I will be moving my personal and business accounts to another institution and have convinced several others to do the same - an institution that has more of a hometown presence than Busey and offers more perks and better rates.

TheBank of Edwardsville was fantastic in all regards. Busey has been nothing but terrible, the worst of which is their customer service. Previously if I needed help I could call the bank and someone would be available to assist me. Now the wait times are +20 min every time I call, it's very disheartening. Busey makes you feel like a number, there is no sense of personal service. They are only interested in the absolute bare minimum service they can provide and I feel no loyalty to them whatsoever. Recently I had to call them 3 times to get my address changed and even after that they still mailed my debit card to an address I haven't lived at at 5 years. TWICE! This is not a friendly local bank. If you are going to use a soulless megabank there are better ones than Busey

I was a Bank of Edwardsville customer, and was very satisfied with service, etc. But, I did move the account from Busey when I saw my expenses would be higher.. I did find the staff at Busey to be very kind and helpful, however.
