  I came to work here after nearly 20 years at another firm. It was clear early on that Benchmark was different and that difference has only magnified throughout the 16 months I've been here. There are a multitude of organizational traits that make Benchmark unique, and outstanding. Chief among them are: * They genuinely value each and every employee. * Everyone I've come into contact with and observed from afar has treated all other colleagues with respect and dignity. The lack of ego among management is unlike anything I've ever seen. * The over-riding reason for acting like this is focus on the customer experience.   As first-time home buyers, the process is very intimidating. Paul and his team worked hard to ensure our mortgage experience was a great one. From our first meeting we felt comfortable that they would offer competitive rates and treat us well. We were never pressured into anything and as we got into the thick of qualification, they worked with us to get all the information and documentation without stress. The Benchmark team even took the time to let us know what was happening and what the next steps were, great for first-timers who didn’t know what to expect.   I never chose to do business with these awful people, they bought my mortgage and I rue the day it happened. I had trouble setting up autopay with them. It involved waiting as long as 55 minutes to talk to customer service people who gave me wrong answers. Here's an example of what they call customer service: First I wait on hold for a woman who made repeat everything because she was taking care of her child, I could hear the child in the background. I told her about it and she transferred me to another. This one listened to my situation and gave me another number to call. That was a fax number. Called customer service again. Wait on hold talked to a woman who said everything I'd been told was wrong and to write a letter. I did. Two weeks Still no resolution. If you want to be treated like an individual and with respect, go elsewhere.

  I have closed 5 loans through Benchmark, and everyone of them has closed on time and with ease. I would never use another lender. The staff at Benchmark kept me informed every step of the way and made sure that we were pursing the best mortgage for me. They also got almost all of the documentation they need before the file was even submitted. It makes it very easy to get an offer accepted with your realtor when you have Benchmark on your side. In this market you need every advantage you can get.
