      When my mortgage bank was bought out by Banner - I was forced to do business with them. It has been downhill since then. At this branch (Madison) - while there are great people (like David, the branch manager, who is a customer service rockstar after a recent account issue), overall I have never received quality customer service from the general tellers. Every single time, and I mean every - single - time, the tellers are unobservant, slow, and oblivious, bordering on rude. Each time I've had to interact with them it they made it seem as though it was a burden to interact with customers face-to-face. I regularly had to wait until they finish personal conversations with one another - or simply didn't acknowledge my presence until they were done with whatever it was they happened to be doing. In any other normal customer service encounter with other banking institutions I am at least afforded the courtesy of recognition along the lines of: "Hi there! I'm just finishing up a computer transaction. We'll be right with you." Again, the branch manager is fabulous, the woman that helped me set up my account was fabulous (blonde, young, happy), the other tellers on the other hand are the complete opposite. Two stars for those two. No stars for the others. On several occasions I made a point of driving to the Ballard branch in order to receive quality customer service simply because I had NO desire to interact with the tellers at the Madison Branch. They must really not encounter a lot of foot traffic. That's no excuse though.

      Went in to open a Connected Checking Account for 50.00 after seeing an advertisement and the branch was in my neighborhood. I even closed out my other bank because of the offer for a free monthly checking account. I made this clear when I went in to the branch and spoke with Mrs. Johnson who "helped" me open my account. I was signed up for a checking and saving account and had money transferred to this account without my knowledge nor did I ever create it myself. Contacting them they told me I would be subject to fees if I tried to close out this savings account I never opened nor was there any paperwork showing I agreed to any savings account. After several phone calls the issue was resolved. Still, very shady practices and I am going to assume, illegal.

      The bank is a great bank that has your back. If you deposit a check written to you and it is not good, this bank will call you direct, alert you to the problem, suggest solutions and help to work out your personal arrangements. They are a very personal bank that knows and values each customer. That has been my experience. Quite refreshing in contrast to say, Bank of America.
