  I've had my checking with them for many yrs. Always had a nice balance so incurred no fees. One day this bank decides to revamp it account membership and did not grandfather in prior account members. They decided to offer only 2 kinds of checking accounts and both will gives fees: If you don't make a deposit any given month no matter what your balance you will incur a fee for banking with this company. Too busy with long work hours to go into bank. Well...the ATM is always down., and when I attempt to make Mobile Deposits, (every time!) The app will not recognize any check I try to deposit. So I mobile deposit my checks in my other bank. Real or imaginary issues for this bank not allowing me to make convenient deposits so they can keep charging this fee for not depositing monthly? The customer service inside and out is Super Slow...and still doesn't fix an issue that shouldn't exist in modern banking. They always have computer issues and that does not lead to my being confidant that my funds are secure at this Bank. No this is not normal. It's sneaky.

  Completely unhelpful. I do not bank at Bank of the West. I sold a private, used vehicle and as a courtesy I took a personal check from the buyer, known through a mutual friend. The check was drawn on Bank of the West. Not a large purchase, well under any sort of daily limit rules! Even though the teller verified all of the account information and that the signature matched she would not cash the check until they “verified“ that the account holder wrote the check. Again, the teller had verified everything on the account including the signature and that the funds were available, yet still refused to cash the check until she talked to the account holder. It’s a Saturday at 11 AM and the bank closes at noon. The teller calls the account holder twice and leaves messages both times but ultimately tells me there is nothing she can do for me until she talks to the account holder so I leave! I bank at Wells Fargo and have done so for more than 30 years. And in those 30 years I have never once had the bank call me to verify a check that I wrote. I cannot imagine being called every single time I write a check to verify that I actually wrote the check and if that were the case I certainly would not bank there. Bank of the West is useless!!!

  Only 1 branch in town, don't even try to reach them by phone, it refers to the 800 number and then cuts you off . The wait time there is over an hour where they then site technical difficulties and cut you off after holding for over an hour. Useless bank.

  Worst customer service ever only took me 3 years dealing with these people to realize they are a joke Bank. Everything takes 10 business days. which is half a month. Yes the bank is open on Saturdays but there are administrative ship only works 5 days a week so minimum half a month to resolve any problems and they don't call you you have to call them last Tuesday the branch manager in Vacaville told me that I would get some credits to my account "shortly" on Wednesday I called him back for clarifications on exactly how long "shortly" was and he said one to three business days it is now Saturday and shortly is not here

  I always liked Credit Unions Vs Commercial Banks, but today's visit to Bank of the west made my day. Very polite Teller , with a nice soft smile. Fresh Coffee for waiting customers. Good Job. If I would live in Vacaville CA, I would do my business at this bank.

  If you need an account with Bank Of The West Avoid online go straight to this location the Manger is the best he helped me with my problem even when my account was not open here Thank you Bruce .
