  I have been with bank of the James since the days when it was then cooperative building & loan madison heights (checking & savings accounts). The bank of the James madison heights far exceeds the five star review, ALL of the folks there are extremely friendly,helpful, courteous and efficient. I use the bank of the James madison heights for all my personal financial affairs not only while here in the USA but also while abroad (I hold dual nationalities American/French) and have found the bank of the James madison heights branch accessible, proficient and heartwarming to be greeted and treated like I just stepped in from down the road instead of actually being an Atlantic ocean away. BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO BANK OF THE JAMES MADISON HEIGHTS!!!!!!!!

  Bank of the James has been my local bank ever since they opened a branch in Madison Heights. It was the best decision I could have made from a banking standpoint. I used to think that having your bank know you personally was not that important....that is, until someone hacked into my email account and sent an email to my bank requesting a wire transfer of funds from my account. Because the folks at the bank knew me personally and were familiar with my transactions, they suspected something was not right and contacted me immediately, possibly saving me from a very serious loss. But beyond that, these folks bend over backwards to provide excellent customer service, not to mention my free checking and friendly help whenever I need it. I actually miss seeing them during the pandemic and can't wait to when I can walk in and see their smiling faces. I notice that Bank of the James is opening new branches around the area, and their growth is for good reason.

  Avoid this bank if you don't like random holds on your account and for your debit card to be often declined out of the blue. There is no way to contact them outside of business hours to get the block removed so if you're in a situation where you need your money look elsewhere.

  Bank of the James is geared toward serving all of their customers and providing value for the business customers. I also appreciate them being a great neighbor by helping donate to the 29 corridor beautification committee. When you walk in the door it's like visiting an old friend, the people are friendly and happy to see you.

  I have been banking here for over 15 years.. They are considerate and kind.. They always call me if any issues arise which I have never had that kind of service from any other bank.. Friendly Family oriented bank who cares about your individual care and banking needs.. Would recommend to anyone to choose Bank of the James as their banking institution.

  The entire Bank of the James Madison Heights team is wonderful! The branch Manager Terra Gilbert is very knowledgeable and is always professional!! Truly an asset to the company!
