Bank of Stockton Reviews

J G1The employees of this bank must be under terrible pressure internally because they are always so unpleasant to deal with on the phone. What's going on with this bank? Why are your employees so hostile? People don't act like this for no reason. Though the woman I spoke to today was rude and unnecessarily abrasive, I doubt it is her fault - all of your staff are like this. Is it because Stockton is a rough city? I doubt it, more likely this bank suffers from a terrible culture and toxic leadership.

Eric Johnson1This is my opinion only. I think this bank is very old fashion. I think it caters to the mid to upper class of society and functions on a good ol boy system. I switched to this bank because I was tired of the long lines at the big national banks. Now, almost everything is done online. It’s time to switch to a different bank. No customer service after hours, or weekends. Debt card gets put on hold if I don’t call ahead and notify I’ll be out of town. Mobile deposits are very limited to the amount I can deposits and transfer from bank to bank seem to take much longer than other banks. If you call the bank and are fortunate enough to talk to someone, you’re greeted by one of their unfriendly staff that’s been with the bank for 30 plus years and feels they can talk to you as if you’re a second class citizen. They’re bothered by my questions and don’t seem to want to do anymore than is required. I personally would not recommend this bank to anyone.

J1Had a commercial property loan with them. The guy at the bank took 3-4 extra weeks to get it done and I had to get multiple extensions on the loan. The bank itself changed its policies days from being finished and had to cough up another $30k or so. The final nail in the coffin is having my biz card denied for a very common business purchase and having to spend 30 mins on the phone to get the card whitelisted for that business purchase. Not worth the headaches of hoping my next biz purchase is not denied. Nice people, but not worth being your bank.

RM GH2I am a current member with Bank Of Stockton and have been for just over a year. Honestly this bank is really starting to get to me in a bad way. Customer service is always top notch at the Quail Lakes branch which is fine. This review is for the bank in general. The layout of their account statements is handled by a third party company who have created the most insane and hard to understand statement I have ever seen in my whole adult life of banking 20 plus years. Their online banking system drops and adds your transactions all the time. What I mean is you'll log in once look at transactions pending and start doing something look back and your times out so you have to log in again. Problem is you log in a second time and there are different transactions pending than before and the ones you just saw are not even there anymore. Bottom line their system's are behind the eight ball with the technology we have today. My wife and I also have a credit card account through BOS. Again handled through a third party company. I recently had problems with that company getting and processing my payments for this account they told me to go to the bank. I go to the bank they call the same damn 800 number I called and get the same damn information I just got. So what good is it for me to run to the bank for the same info i just got at home. I really believe that unless you are old school and like paying with checks for everything or you have more money than God this is not the bank for you. Personally i am looking into other banking options and switching back to a credit union.

A R1I wish there was a negative star! Purchased a vehicle from dealer in 2014 in which Bank of Stockton picked up the loan. Had issues in the past where they don’t accept cards as form of payments and had a hard time dealing with their old school system. Anyways, just recently bank of Stockton sold my loan to another bank (Regional acceptance) without any notice. In the process my credit has already been impacted around 80 points. I have spend numerous amount of hours talking with both banks and Experian, TransUnion and Equifax. Everyone says that is the others guys fault and I am here at the end of the line getting hurt. DO Not do business with this people as they will hurt you at the end and you’ll end up like me having to spend time and money to sue them for personal property damage! They are bad bank!

Mike Hickey1The local BOS in Pine Grove gets 5 stars but HQ gets one. They recently rolled out a major upgrade to electronic (online) banking. They did not notify their customers prior to the upgrade. I got back from vacation to find I had to change my password. No instructions. Mobile banking app was upgraded and mobile deposit no longer works. Again, no instructions - no one tells us we have to upgrade our BOS mobile banking app. Spent hours with customer service and their "IT" department and they couldn't fix the problems with mobile check deposits. Tried 3 different checks but it does not work. IT department just says they don't know what the problem is. I live in a rural area and it's a 20 mile round trip to the local branch which I now have to go to because their mobile deposit doesn't work. How the hell do you roll out a major upgrade without first notifying your customers, without instructions and without thorough testing of the new system.

ape man5Honestly, I don't understand why this bank got some bad reviews. I have been with BOS over 20 years never once had a problem that wasn't quickly resolved. This is probably the safest Bank in the USA. Certainly one of the the most respectable. And have to be professional and smart to be able to last through all of the economic woes of the past 150 years. People, think before giving Bank Of Stockton a smear...

Christopher Schmitt1Had an auto loan with Bank of Stockton. Every month we would mail out the payment on the first. Every month we would get a call on the 15th saying that it was late and that we'd need to pay a late fee. Magically the check would clear about 1 week later. This happened for 8 months in a row. Finally one month I sen the check out certified on 12/1. I got the receipt saying it was received on 12/3. Of course I got a call on the 15th saying it was late. I told the person I had a certified receipt saying otherwise. He said he would go look for it. I then got a call on the 30th saying that they still hadn't received the check and that if I didn't make a payment they were going to hit my credit with a 30 day late. I paid a late fee and a convenience fee for paying over the phone. We then decided we'd had enough and refinanced the loan through a local credit union. Loan was paid off on 1/14. Guess what? Check clears on 1/15. It took Bank of Stockton 6 weeks to clear a check. A bank. I would advise against anyone using them. We tried several times to set automatic payments but those forms somehow got lost. To pay over the phone has a heavy convenience fee. All around garbage. Horrible customer service. At the end of it I was called a liar. Was told I needed to provide proof (as if the fact that the check cleared after the payoff wasn't proof enough.). Steer clear of this bank.

Steve Brack1I am writing this review to hopefully help someone who might be spared of this misery in the future. We had a theft of my debit card mag strip electronically which can happen to anyone, i get that. Why i'm writing a negative review is not that the branch did a poor job, but when i received a form letter from headquarters which is in Stockton ca. i got a major run around and when i finally got through to Lamona Tarkington She acted unprofessional and very condescending. It took 21 days to get my account reinstated. be warned, this headquarters doesn't seem to have a head. I was a customer for 25 years and i feel ignored. again not from the branch but headquarters seems they are not on the same page & line. Patty @ Oakdale Branch is ausome, corparate failed, which hurt my business. Steven Brack, respectfully
