Aspire Federal Credit Union Reviews

Alan Laster3Aspire, was fabulous, however, in their decision to be absorbed into Penfed with minimal notice to its members and the lack of transparency was outside of Aspire's usual relationship with it's members. Aspire's upper management team should have listed/shared a comparative list showing the amenities Aspire has and what Penfed is offering. This would have afforded it's members to either embrace Penfed or seek another credit union. Aspire's upper management neglected to share a few things until the last two weeks of transition; "Pop-up-money" or any similarity does not exist at Penfed and the interest rate of the flex-line of credit will be 40% higher at Penfed and take three business days to clear. At Aspire the rate was 10% (versus Penfed's 14%) and clearance was the same day, at times even shorter. So how is a loss of amenities and increased interest rates beneficial ? I have been with Aspire before it became Aspire, I will truly miss the customer service and all the great people that took care of my needs with their patience, professionalism and courtesy. To upper management, I am very disappointed in you..

D S D1This has been my credit union for 10 years. I wish they didn't decide to close on Saturdays. They need more shared branches. ***Update*** Since the pandemic they have been a mess. I got an email saying that they are closed until further notice. How are we supposed to conduct business when there aren't many shared branches

Khari F3TL;DR: Good for loans (auto, personal, etc.), horrible for banking. Over the past few years, my banking experience with Aspire FCU has not been a great experience - mainly because of their SUPER tight restrictions with their mobile check deposit. I have encountered many issues with depositing a check via the mobile app and because it's not endorsed correctly, they reverse it out of my account or if the date is wrong, they reject and reverse the deposit out of my account. Out of the many financial institutions I hold a checking account with, this credit union is the only one that I have experienced these type of issues with. Just last night, I deposited a check via the mobile app dated 7/25, but because the actual picture deposit transaction happened on 7/24, on 7/25 they reviewed, rejected and reversed the deposit back out because it has the date 7/25 and not 7/24 or earlier. I think that is crazy! When it came to endorsing the back of checks, in the past, because I didnt specifically write "For mobile deposit to Aspire FCU" - if I write "For Deposit Only" - not including "mobile" or simply endorsing the check with my signature, it will get reversed out of the account. Another super tight rule that I have not experienced with other banks. Their ePower checking account recently had changes too. If you dont use your debit card at least once a month, they will charge you a monthly fee. This went into effect in June and this month (July) I was charged a service fee. I have since closed my checking being that (1) I don't live close to the credit union any longer and it was an account that I used to pay one bill a month to keep it active, (2) it has become more inconvenient than easy to do banking with this credit union over the past few years - every other bank uses Zelle, they still use PopMoney. They aren't even keeping pace with the mobile and transactional features other credit union and banks offer to make banking on the go easier and more convenient. As for the mobile check deposit issue, I understand that regulations has prompted Aspire to enact new rules around mobile check deposit, but out of my other institutions, Aspire has been extremely strict and is the only one that has rejected/reversed checks because of the reasons mentioned above. I will now only use them for loans as I have never had any issues with those type of products and their rates are competitive.

Joseph Nashid1I wish I could give them 0 star, I keep calling them trying to solve a problem, which I and many others are victims of the NYC corruption, but there is no way that someone calls you back, I called Chierico many times, left messages and never heard of him. Please stay a way

Michelle L5I have been with aspire fcu when it was named FAA fcu. That's 25+ years and they have never let me down. This credit Union treat you with the upmost respect and professionalism. They also aim at solving your financial challenges and metting your financial goals. I love doing business with this credit Union.

Michael Lisboa1Terrible. Their lobbies are down and there is no way to make deposits. They told me to use a PNC atm, which turned out charging me for the deposit. STAY AWAY!!!

Estate Nicholson1Weak credit union, with shady policies, unreasonable charges for common things and inability to adjust to the times and take payments or deposits. There is a reason they are rated lowly.
