  What an absolutely terrible place to bank. They screw over first time loan buyers in every way possible. They jack up interest rates that they claimed were fixed. No one ever knows whats going on, horrendous communication, no one ever has the right authorization—be sure to bring a crossword to do while they play phone tag because it could be awhile. Their covid relief plan will leave you paying double your loan. In a word it’s a scam. I’d pay a 15% interest rate anywhere else before I’d ever deal with this organization. They do not care about you. Their only priority is to keep money coming from you for as long as possible. They ruin lives and kill dreams by keeping you enslaved to your finances. Do yourself a kindness and RUN.

  If you want decency, respect, a phone call returned or any honesty, I'd suggest banking elsewhere. The amount of hoop jumping to get any semblance of service is just unbelievable.

  A lot of these negative reviews aren’t even the banks fault lol. I’ve always had an amazing experience with Altra.I recommend them to all of my local friends and family members. They refinanced my auto loan and gave me the lowest APR% I’ve been offered to date. I live in South Dakota and still continue to use them as my credit union. Even as far away as I am, I have had no issues that couldn’t be taken care of over the phone or through email. I highly, highly recommend this bank.

  ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SUPPORT! DO NOT GET A LOAN THROUGH THEM. You shouldn't have to deal with their support every time you need to pay a bill, but you will! Spoke to Colten and he was just rude and short with me.

  Most impersonal bank I have EVER been to. You couldn't PAY me to bank with them. Snotty attitude by staff...at desk and through the computer screen.

  If I could give a -1 I would. I have an auto loan with Altra and I fell on hard times so I called credit services to see if there was anything I could work out until my disability insurance came through. They were unwilling to help me out at all. It was either pay or they come and take my only source of transportation. I understand I signed a contract with them, but given my situation and how I was faithfully making payments until recently I was hoping they would at least be more understanding of my situation. So today 11/25/19 I called and let them know that my disability insurance is coming through the lady got sort of short with me she said it’s either pay now or they come and get the car even though she has stated if I had income coming in she can help with my payments but instead she wants until my payment due date in order so they can start the repression process. I am very disappointed on how Altra has treated me. I wouldn’t recommend this bank to anyone especially if your are looking to get a loan.

  Had umbilica hernia surgery. Didn't have disability insurance. No work for 2 weeks. Applied for a $1000 loan to get me thru part of the month. Jenna the loan agent calls me and asks my monthly income. Left said msg. No return follow up on her part. A new way of doing business? Time to dump the bank.

  I generally have no problem with the service. However, today I went in to get an instant replacement of my debit card that was not working properly. Took a while for a second person to come to the desk to assist. Told her what I needed. She got all my info, name, address, SSN and looked everything up. It was only then that she told me the machine was down and they would have to mail a replacement. I need a working card tomorrow, not just next week. I will try another branch for this and hope their machine works.

  Tricked a friend into signing onto a refinancing auto loan, telling them that in order to remove their name from the original/previous loan, they have to collect their signature at the time of the new loan. Turns out they aren't listed on the top of the loan paperwork, so they don't show up as holding a loan with the bank. But that signature made them responsible for any defaults on the loan and responsible for any future amounts withstanding, if the loan holder is unable to make his payments.
