Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union Reviews

Moose Mihalak5Best credit union hands down - they work with your situation, not solely on credit score. Yesterday I entered the Rochester drive-thru line for the first time in months and the member representative remembered me by name, even though he hadn't seen me in probably close to 6 months. Wonderful CU, wonderful employees and the branch manager Billie is a valuable asset to your team. Thanks Affinity Plus!
Response from the ownerThank YOU, Ryan! We're so glad to hear that you're a happy member! We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us too. Have a wonderful day! ^ashley

Samantha Hanson5I love this credit union! They are so helpful and they are a huge rarity in the banking industry because they simply care. They do so much for the community in addition to being wonderful toward their customers. Whether you are going to use this for personal banking or business banking, you definitely need to consider going to Affinity Plus. Now my only complaint is that they need more locations!
Response from the ownerWow! Thank you for this amazing review, Samantha! We're so glad you're experiencing the care we have for members and the community. (And, we're working on the locations feedback.) Have a great day! ^ashley

Winsor James3Most of the time Affinity Plus is good. The big issues are the wait times and the single location. Standing in line for 20 minutes is great. Tellers are friendly, but maybe too friendly for the people waiting in line... I get skipped for the drive thru that wait 2 min.🙄
Response from the ownerHi Winsor, thank you for providing this feedback. We'll make sure to share it with branch leadership. Thanks so much for your continued membership. ^ashley

Laura Zastrow190% of my interactions with Affinity have been laden with poor communication, delays, or systems that don't work. Simply not how I want to be doing my banking. The people are nice, and if Affinity can up their communication standards, expectations, and systems in a jiffy, they'll be just fine, but to do so will need a hefty overhaul. Edit on 10/7/21: Downgrading from my review from two-stars to a one-star. They sent me another statement today for an account I closed in July despite repeatedly asking them to stop mailings. I see Affinity's response to my review to get in touch with further information. I've shared my experience via email, on the phone, and in person with Affinity personnel a dozen times. If they are not logging it in my file and passing it on to the proper channels, then it is Affinity's job to put better systems in place, not for me to call and share my bad experience once again.
Response from the ownerLaura, we're disappointed to hear of the negative experiences you had. We're always looking for ways to get better and would be interested to learn more about what systems and communications haven't been working for you. Please contact us at (800) 322-7228 if you'd like to share more details. Thank you ^ashley

Aimee Hoffbeck4I've been banking with Affinity since I as 16. The people that work there are always so nice and ready to help and I usually never have issues with them. However I've been waiting on the phone for 21:19 as of this moment and still haven't heard from anyone. All I need to do is approve a purchase. I'm extremely patient and understanding, but I have called them twice in the last 2 hours and as of 23:14 I spoke to a very pleasant woman. At 26:57 our call ended and my concerns addressed. However, I find it unnecessary to have to wait 23 minuets for a concern that took 3 to answer. If this issue could be addressed with the staff that would be wonderful!
Response from the ownerAimee, I'm so glad to hear you got your concerns addressed. Thank you for your patience while waiting on hold and for you longtime membership. We really appreciate it. And we've shared your feedback with leaders in our contact center. Thank you and have a great day! ^ashley

Jeri Lubahn5My granddaughter and I were to have met to get an account set up and help with student loan. I didn’t hear it had been canceled. Taylor from Rochester branch said he would help us get set up. He went out of his way to set up account for my granddaughter, getting information from her and set it up.while we waited outside. My granddaughter and I were impressed with his professionalism and willingness to help. My husband and I have been members for over 50 years and always impressed with staff willing to help. Thank you Taylor for helping us on Thursday 7/23/ 2020.
Response from the ownerJeri, we're so glad we could help! Thank you for your patience with us during these changing times. We appreciate you! Thank you for being a member. ^ashley

Amanda Bradley5The team at the Rochester location are without a doubt the most compassionate, warm and determined to help group of people my family has ever been blessed to meet. We went through significant loss (three deaths) and got very financially burdened and this bank went above and beyond times 1000 to help us get things back in order. They were extremely gracious and selfless and kind and giving to my family on a very personal level over the holidays and I just can’t say enough good things about them. Especially their employee Brittany M. Would DEFINITELY recommend this bank to anyone and everyone!
Response from the ownerAmanda Bradley, we're so very sorry about your losses. I'm so glad to hear that you found our employees to be so supportive and caring during that time. We're here for you! And, we appreciate you taking the time for this review. We'll be sure to share this with Brittany and the Rochester team. ^Ashley

John Webb5I have been with Affinity a long time now. In fact, I started with them when it was known as, “State Capital Credit Union.” I agree that it’s time for another second branch here in Rochester, MN. Also, a need to branch out into other States. Like in Florida, Pennsylvania, California, Wisconsin and Texas.
Response from the ownerThank you for being such a long-time member, John! And thank you so much for the feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to share it. ^ashley

Sena Ven3Started banking here about 4yrs ago. My dad is a loyal member and got me started with them. Service has really gone down. Lacks speed and efficiency in the drive thru. People are usually nice but also moves really slow. I’m usually upset with how long a payment takes at the drive up window

Kirk Kaske1Honestly... if you’re getting a home loan... go somewhere else! When we first started, they were like Affinity May help with closing costs buuuut we have to start the whole process first so we got dragged. Finally someone told us no, you can check them almost immediately and surrrprise we supposedly didn’t qualify but we were SO close to our closing date that we didn’t have time to switch. During th loan process, The loan officer would tell me ohh yes we need these papers right away on this date. So I literally went around town getting all the signatures from my husband and everything. So spending a lot of time and gas only to come back to find that she is on vacation!!! She was constantly going be and I mentioned we were on a bit of a time crunch. I should have taken this as a hint and left right away. The one teller didn’t know what he was doing and couldn’t answer our questions one time so he gave us info for “someone higher up in the cities”. When I looked at info, it was for someone in the exact same beach as him!! So NOT “higher up” and definitely not in the cities ... Then recently they underestimated our escrow/taxes (how do you underestimate $1100?!?) so we had to pay out to keep our monthly payment lower which was going up too. We pay it ON time but then my next month payment slip says that high amount as if we didn’t pay that escrow! Honestly, I want to switch! I’m already looking around and waiting for a few other things to fall into place first. Then I’m out!! I feel like we’ve been dragged along and lied to constantly. The info I get only half explains everything and the customer service is just ... horrible. - NK in Minnesota.
