Advantage Bank Reviews

Robin Hood5I have a business checking account here and I can't tell you how grateful I am to have such a great bank but here's a few things that really matter to me. When I call, the phone is answered by a human and not a phone tree. A mobile banking app that is easy to use and deposit checks through. If I have a question about my account, I'm able to speak to the person that can help me in an expedited manner. Emails are responded to faster than you'd expect. About 4 years ago, I had to move out of state and I'm so thankful I've always had my business checking account here. Some of the superstars I'd like to mention are Gena H and Linda W. I just can't thank them enough! I'm a client for life.

Dumstorf Adam1Horrible! Hideous! Heinous! These are just a few of the words that come to my mind to describe my first impression from Advantage Bank! I had one of the worst banking experiences in my life today at Advantage Bank. I went there to get a secured loan against a vehicle that I already own. Initially, when I walked in, there wasn't even a receptionist at the front desk. After waiting for a while, however, I was met by a lady who it turns out was filling in for the receptionist. I explained to her the reason for my visit. She had me fill out an extensive application. The application itself is terrible! It requests just about every single piece of information that a person could possible imagine! Surprisingly, it did not ask for my shoe size (which is large)! I mentioned to the receptionist that most of the information that was requested on the application would be displayed on the credit report itself. A very gruff, "we need for you to fill it out anyways," was the response. After having filled out the dissertation, I was kept waiting in the lobby for over 30 minutes to see a loan officer. As soon as I entered the office of the loan officer, I politely asked her what had taken her so long to see me. The loan officer said to me that she was eating her lunch. I replied to her that someone could have at least told me that and I would have come back. Just so you know, the bank apparently shuts down around 2:00 p.m. Call it lunch time! Immediately after that, I was handed paperwork with my credit score on it. My credit had already been run without my knowledge or consent. Yes, I should have read the fine print on the application, my bad. I wanted to speak with the loan officer first though, to get some more information pertaining to the loan itself. It turned out that the bank doesn't even do secured loans for vehicles over ten years old. Had I known that upfront, I wouldn't have wasted much of my precious time and taken a needless hard hit against my credit! I recommend NOT using this bank! In retrospect, I wonder to myself, "What is really going on behind the scenes in this bank?"
Response from the ownerMr. Dumstorf, On behalf of President & CFO, Danita Rose, we apologize for your experience with us. We are using this incident as a training experience for our staff and a time to update and perfect our procedures in a way that it does not impact the customer’s time. We are regulated and have guidelines we must fulfill; which is why our credit application is so extensive. We are a small bank with limited staffing, therefore many of us wear multiple hats and must scatter lunches throughout the day; however, that is no excuse for what you experienced. We hope to make the process easier for our customers whom are applying for loans and to provide answers to any questions before credit is pulled. We are consistently striving to increase our communication with customers and our employees. It is our mission to serve our community in the best manner possible. We apologize for displeasing you and hope you will give us a second chance. Sincerely, Advantage Bank

Rick Phillips4When I am looking for a bank, I look for a place that doesn't try to nickel-and-dime me to death with all of the extra charges. I look for a place where the staff is friendly and courteous, where they pay a decent amount of interest, and where the interest rate charged you on loans does not send you to the poor house. This looks to be a pretty good place.
