we use this bank for savings only. And the service this last visit was AWFUL. I went to open my daughter a savings account for her grades. While there, the First Lady on the right “Member service lead” tells me..oh and if we don’t get an updated ID for you were going to have a hold on your account… (I didn’t have my new ID on me, and it’ was valid when we opened the account and just recently expired in February) I said “what’s the reason for the hold?” She responded with “oh it’s just to make sure you update it” … man what a bad taste this credit union has put in my mouth. TALK ABOUT HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Mind you I’ve been back to the bank with the updated ID MULTIPLE TIMES!! They should have gotten the copy then. We will definitely be back to take our money and account else where! It’d be different if it was “oh because of security reasons..” but instead she said just to make sure I bring it. Is that even legal? To have a hold on my account just because my ID EXPIRED. What a*% holes they were. This visit. Ugh. Goodbye ACCESS.Hello education…

      Response from the owner

Thank you so much for the feedback. We apologize that your visit to the credit union wasn’t what you expected. The member service representative should have gone into more detail about why the hold would have been placed on the account. The reason we require an updated and valid ID is actually for security purposes and not just to make sure the ID is current. The hold would have been placed to ensure we get the current ID after we had opened the account with the expired identification. The USA Patriot ACT of 2001 requires the credit union to obtain and maintain records of information used to verify identity at the account opening process. Moving forward we will do a better job of thoroughly explaining that process to help avoid any confusion.

This has to be the worst bank I’ve ever had to deal with. I’ve been with them for more than 3 years now. Me and my wife have a checking and a savings here. Both of us have direct deposits going into our accounts. We regularly have our cards locked. Not for going out of town or for security purposes, but for reasons that are unclear to them. Please tell me how upset you would be to go buy dinner or to go pick up groceries for your family, and then your card be declined. How embarrassing. Leaving my family with no funds until we get to speak to them on the next business day. This place is a joke. I’m switch our accounts tomorrow.

      Response from the owner

Matthew, We apologize that you have been unhappy with your account service. Our system allows us to e=see exactly why cards are declined. We would be happy to discuss this further with you at your earliest convenience. Please call member services at 806-353-9999.

Applied for a home equity loan & personal loan on a home that is PAID IN FULL , to use the house as collateral. Have solid credit, make good money, but because the credit that shows on my credit report is "unsecured" I was denied by the "Committee" that makes the decisions. I was told that because I don't have my direct deposits with them, that is also a factor in deciding an unsecured loan. A house paid in full, as collateral is unsecured??? Would someone explain this to me? The loan department was hesitant to say anymore about this subject and stumbled over their words. If you wanted to get rid of me, you have done it. I Guess I will save and pay cash. Thank you for helping me be smart with my money.

      Response from the owner

Dear Google Reviewer, Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your experience. When it comes to a home equity loan, the credit union does have a minimum loan amount based on the complexity and detail required for a home equity loan. Many of our loans go through a "committee" so that a sound and fair lending decision can be made. The committee is made up of several experienced lenders who are responsible for managing risk on behalf of the credit union. Many of the loans we make are to community members who do not use the credit union for their direct deposit, although it helps in the loan decision as we evaluate relationships and account usage. We love our members and employees and pride ourselves on offering trusted advice and helping individuals and families build financial security. We would never want to get rid of a member! We apologize if you feel you didn't receive a thorough explanation about the loan decision. We would be glad to discuss it with you at your convenience. Please feel free to call the credit union and ask for a manager.

I've banked with them for 16 years now, savings, checking, and auto loan. Back then they were just Access Credit Union, and membership was private. I've never had a problem with them, they've always treated me with respect whenever I went inside, and I've never had to wait. I use the original Bell location so I can't vouch for the other locations. Most of my banking these days is done online, so I've only been inside once in the last several years to turn in a jar of accumulated change. If the savings rates were just a little bit more competitive I would've given them 5 stars.

I was interested in getting a HVAC loan from this company so since I knew my credit scores and how everything looked in my credit, I decided to call and speak with a loan officer first to see if I would be approved. I told her that my credit score was over 730, no lates or collections, been working at the same job for over 3 years. Everything looked good except for the fact that the highest thing I have on there that is paid off is not that high. I also told her that I have been a homeowner for only 4 months and wanted to know if that would decline the application. After telling her all this information, she told me that I would have to go in person to see if I’m approved. I was able to get out early from work a week later since I wouldn’t of made it in time if I wouldn’t of. I drove 40min to the place, had my credit pulled by a rude, short spoken lady and was told everything looked good on my credit but was declined because I had to be at my home for at least a year before I can be approved. So I drove 40min and had to get out an hour early just for them to tell me what I wanted to know over the phone before going in person. This is not professional. They made me lose time, money and now my credit score went down because they pulled my credit.

I love this bank. I rarely have to wait. I love the virtual banking from my computer and phone. Always friendly and they gave me a great loan on my truck when Happy State Bank wouldn't.

They are not the same company as the previous SPS credit union. Members are not a priority, they're time has come and gone. There are much better organizations to join
