Ryan S.1I've been with 1st Lib for 15 years or so and have been disappointed with the service for quite a while but kept my account open because I had a low interest loan. My last loan is paid off and can't wait to close my account and take my business elsewhere. The last straw was when they over drafted my bill pay account on my last payment by taking more than the payoff on the loan, and then refused to reimburse the overdraft fee for the mistake they admitted was their own. Way to make it an easy decision to leave 1st Liberty! Don't waste your time here. There are plenty of banks and credit unions in this town that WANT your business, and treat you like a human instead of an inconvenience. The attitude you get here permeates from the top, and its sad to watch a bank I used to enjoy doing business with turn to straight garbage.
Response from the ownerRyan, we're sorry to hear about your experience and apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused. This isn't the experience we want our members to have! If you could reach out to us at 406-761-8300, we would be happy to look into the situation further and amend it where we can. We are thankful for your loyalty to 1st Liberty and appreciate your business.

Rashaud Mitchell1I usually have no problems with this bank. But I have been trying to call for two weeks and have been on hold for a least 30 minutes each time and there was still no answer. I needed one sheet of paper but no one was answering their phones. I then decided to go into the office and realized there were no customers nor were they busy. I decided to call from the lobby to see what happened. As I called, no one attempted to answer the phone, even though no one was busy. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!! Especially during the times of Covid-19. If you want to keep your employees and customers safe, then they shouldn’t have to come in and expose both themselves and others to the risk of contracting a DEADLY virus. When I got to the desk, I asked if something was wrong with the phones and the lady said there wasn’t. I then asked to speak to a loan officer. From the time I walked in, until the time I walked out, I felt unwelcomed. Everyone gave me the sense that they hated the fact that I actually came in. Well I wouldn’t have to if someone would have answered their phone. I have had no major problems with this bank Up until now. My experience has put a sour taste in my mouth. I have recommended this bank to a number of friends but never again.

jesse martinez1When the SCRA was released, just about every credit card company honored the SCRA for military members. When I called 1st Liberty, they got offensive even when I asked. They mentioned how they do not honor the SCRA for military members, and stated they will only honor those if they had such debt prior to entering the military. They never even read the entire disclosure, to where most are eligible, which depends what state you reside in and NOTHING states that you must have generated the debt prior to entering the military. What sense does it make to only honor those who incurred the debt prior to??? But not while they are currently serving?? Completely bogus..and it's not like they will be sacrificing much considering they just ask not to charge military members more than 6%!! So obviously they are taking advantage of those who do serve. HIGHLY suggest to not work with 1st liberty if you are a military member...look at Chase, Capitol One, Synchrony bank to just name a few who DO honor those in uniform! Need to start honoring those banks and credit unions that honor those in uniform!!
Response from the owner1st Liberty sincerely regrets to hear about your experience, as 1st Liberty does work with military members and observe the SCRA. The Servicemembers Civil Relief Act is a law that provides a range of relief to active duty servicemembers, which includes reducing the rate of interest on debts incurred before entering active duty to 6% and some protection against default judgments, evictions, mortgage foreclosures, and repossessions of property. Attached is a booklet from DOJ and below is a link to the Military.com website that summaries the different benefits. https://www.military.com/benefits/military-legal-matters/scra/servicemembers-civil-relief-act-overview.html 1st Liberty’s strives to comply with the letter and intent of all applicable laws and regulations. You are a valued member of 1st Liberty Federal Credit Union and we appreciate the opportunity to assist you as we are able. We would like to further discuss this with you and help with questions you may have. Thank you for your feedback.

Peasant Forge1Got an auto loan through them as a young airman, absolutely awful at getting back to me with any useful info, their website is archaic, they do not respond in a timely manner to anything, and their online accounts constantly have errors, forcing me to contact their unresponsive tellers, im currently on day 3 of trying to get a release of lien letter from them for a car that was paid off a year ago, while I take responsibility for not having the original on hand anymore, it is ATROCIOUS that I cannot access it via my account login nor have anyone simply email it to me within 3 BUSINESS DAYS.
