Synchrony Financial Reviews

Joseph Davis1Got an interest free loan through Synchrony at the Mattress Firm. Don't be late on a payment. I just found out I was gouged $28 as a late fee for being literally 2 days late on a $30 payment. Most reputable organizations won't charge you a late fee until you are legitimately late. Like a month or more. Not some casual 2 days because someone didn't get around to their monthly finances for a given month as early as they normally do. If you don't want to give out interest free loans, then don't. But don't pretend like you are and then gouge people for the slightest infractions. I'll be paying off this loan completely next month and never doing business with Synchrony again. They can't be trusted to do proper, honest business dealings.

Linda Waddell2After receiving an email from them referencing my credit card application, was unable to find that information after clicking the link. Any phone number I try goes to those already having accounts. Chatting is no help at all and sending an email, I am informed, requires me to enter an account number, which I do not have and probably never will.

Daniel Westfall1Applied for CareCredit through Syncrony Bank - We signed up for their 18 month promotion with no interest. After recieving the card the promotional period has been shortened to 6 months with no explanation. Customer (no) service over the phone has told us it was up to the person who charged us how long our interest free period was. When we ask why we had to choose the loan options before finishing the credit application they "transfer" us to someone who can help. They then hang up on us. Accident? Nope same exact thing twice over! Two different people, same exact play. BBB here I come!

Kenna Plate2We purchased furniture with a synchrony account through Ashley Furniture Store about 5 months ago. We have had to call at least once a month because for whatever reason the automatic payment feature does not actually work, and we have had a late fee every time we thought we could utilize the automatic payment feature. The customer service representatives talk to you as if you are a child.

Artur C1Just like many other reviews here, Sychrony closed my account, without any notice, when I paid my account balance as per our agreement. When I called to ask why, I was told it was because of my payment history .I NEVER MISSED A SINGLE PAYMENT! NEVER LATE ONCE! Worst customer service .There are other option .Don't use this bank. Update 12/1/2020........ was talked into trying Sychrony Banks CareCredit again by my dentist. Original credit limit was $4000.00. I paid it down to $500.00, on time every month per our agreement. They dropped my limit to $800.00, which reduced my available credit, which dropped my credit score. My wife was going to have some dental work done. We planned on using this card to spread out the payments. Was told by Sychrony that even though I had never missed a payment, the limit wouldn’t be raised. I was welcome to apply again if I wanted. No thank you.

Kayla Elexia1When sent to work from home i had so many system issues and Mr baldus refused to help and once he did start to help i assumed okay my system is finally being fixed not even 1-2 hours of me into the system i get a blind meeting w Hr stating they wanted to let me go due to me not being logged in when my manager baldus knew why and instead of him helping me and standing up for me he let them fire me. I asked them why and due to the laws of Kansas they do not have to give a reason to why they fire you even though we all know i was let go due to my boss not standing up for me and explaining why i was even having system issues. He was save his self and not him and his team! Hr then refused my unemployment and refused to help fix or look into the issue for me even though the site leader tried her best to help me. I appreciate her to the fullest but i do not appreciate Mr baldus or any one else of the Paypal team! Do not work here if you are looking for a team its everyone for themselves!

susan martin1Be careful with this company. I thought I made the minimum required payment as worded on the computer screen and matched with the bill and when I paid it there was no amount registered. I had to go back into my account to realize my my payment was a transaction fee of $29.00 NOT the minimum payment due. Had I not double checked I would have gotten nailed with high interest and a late fee. I think this isn't a good way to conduct business.

Cathy Manroe1HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! My husband and I have had a Phillips 66 gas card for over 25 years. One of our teenagers recently started driving and was using our gas card to fill up his tank. The card got maxed out so I made an additional payment for the month. We have electronic payments set up each month. When I checked our account online it stated we had a $221 credit on the account. When I called the 800 number on my card thought was calling Phillips customer service instead it was Synchrony Bank. They informed me that they could not talk to me because I was not primary on the account. I informed them I had called them before and was able to get information since I am on the card and I am the one who pays the bills. The Synchrony rep said that may have happened in the past but Synchrony took over the account four years ago. I asked them if I had a credit on the account why could I not use it. They said it was their policy that if a large payment was paid the card was put on hold for a week. I said we have been account holders for 25 years. We have always paid off our card every month. Can't you look at the history? The rep said it was Synchrony's policy to hold large payments. I told him this was assinine and he said I agree which was a shock. He said my husband would have to call back later to get the hold taken off of the account. My husband did call back later but the rep on the phone was some immature kid who didn't give a rip that we had the card for 25 years. My husband said to cancel the account. The rep cancelled the account and did apoligize for the inconvenience at the END of the call. He really didn't care that Phillips 66 was losing a 25 year customer. My sister cancelled her card after being a customer for 15 years. I then called Phillips 66 and got a hold of their customer service. I told them what had happened. I just wanted them to know how Synchony Bank was handling their long time customers. She did apologize and said she would let Synchrony know what happened. Synchrony did call us and left a message stating they wanted to talk to us about the situation. My husband called the rep (supposedly a manager) five times and she never called him back. What run around!!

Rob Davis1I asked for a check to be drawn from my high yield savings account and never received. Trying to get this resolved has been much trouble. Customer service can't seem to bring up my savings account with the account number on the statement and have gone in circles. Very disappointing to see that customer service has been so absent. Still trying to resolve after more than 4 calls.

Megan Hughes1Literally The work financial institute I have ever experienced in my entire life! They "accidentally" deducted over $12,000 from my checking account and then denied it even though I fax them proof multiple times in my bank confirmed that this was being fraud. I've called them over a dozen times nobody called me back and they denied that they stole money from my account.
