  Haven't even signed up but after talking to Shabina Patel, I feel like I can breath. She explained everything, was very upfront and answered all 1 million and 1 questions I had. I do still have more research to do and more questions to think up but I just have a good feeling about this place. I guess I'm being a little hasty in saying that I'd like to move forward with opening the account in this company because of how honest Shabina was. We're just in a tough spot right now and can't continue with what we're doing. The way I see it, if I am already comfortable with the company after one call, they must be doing something right. Thanks again Shabina and I look forward to speaking with you later and most likely moving forward in the process. I will also update this review during the process so I can provide step by step feedback of the whole process.

  SBI NY has some individuals who understand customer service and the need to be efficient. Don't get me wrong, the default personnel you imagine when you think of an SBI branch definitely are here as well: entitled, callous, barely helpful and lethargic. But especially the head of customer service at SBI NY and some people on the team are very motivated to improve the customer experience and do the simple things like asking someone who is waiting "how can I help you sir'. And actually suggest solutions when you forget a photo. And if you don't know it already, then let me add that SBI's internet banking solution is the best in class in India. Better than ICICI or HDFC bank. And way better than other nationalized banks. If you open up an SBI NRI account in India along with the SBI NY branch account, you enjoy a very simple and efficient experience in managing USD and INR between the US and India.

  I had a wonderful experience banking at the SBI New York branch. Right from opening of accounts in USA and SBI India, they went out of the way to help! Shabina Patel was exceptional in helping complete all paperwork for each account and even working with the India counter parts to expedite the process. Shabina took a very short time to open my account and get it working! Thanks Shabina and SBI NY staff!

  I was there at the office last week. They have an excellent client relations team in New York. Prapti from the Remittance was very helpful & informative. Keep up the good work SBI New York. I was well impressed.

  I cannot even open account in SBI newyork. I tried online; the site online process asks me to call IVR number to complete application process and IVR asks me to go the website and hangs up. I have no idea why/how they are still in business. if there is a negative star rating I would give - stars. for the folks who want to deal with this bank just a high level stats. Account Opening - you need fill out the online application form and send the document printed and mail them (snail mail). I this this bank do not know there is something called e-Signatures? After they recieve all the documents it takes atleast 10 business days to activate the account so total 15 days to just open the account. Domestic Money Transfer ( from my usa bank to SBI) : it takes anywhere between 4 to 5 business days. my other banks takes 2 business days most. International Money Transfer: There is a charge of 25$ for every remittance even for transfering from SBI NY to SBI India. why would I even open a bank account if you charge for every remittance? one of the reasons to open account with SBI is to reduce remittance transfer fees. even with the 25$ fees it took around 3 business days to transfer. Customer Support/Service : None; if you try to call the office call goes to voice-mail. I hope US Bank regulator cancels the license for the bank for the legacy bank practices.

  We went to SBI New York recently to open new account. Ms. Neha was very helpful to open our new account and to answer different questions. She even helped us filling out new account forms. We strongly recommend this branch services. :D

  Horrible customer service. There is a saying in India, A dogs tail is always a dogs tail, it will never become straight, what ever you do. Same thing with these SBI customer support agents. Even if they are working in NY branch, their rude attitude of typical "Govt Employees" will never change. Worst customer service.

  I went to Indian bank after a long time ...the first thing I saw was Indian laid back attitude ..customer can always wait ..their are some caracter who have that attitude...but their are some who are helpful who are ready to go extra mile ...which balances the equation ..the bank seem to be run very casually ..which may be some people don't like...for me things went smoothly ...so I can't complain ...another and last imp point state. Bank in my observation gives the best rate ..
