SF Fire Credit Union Reviews

sig wallen1I have every account here, I have been a customer since 1999, And I am a retired SF firefighter. This home equity line “officer” Jon, refused an equity line of credit of only ($30K) and would not accept my rental unit (built in 1960) in Marin as income. I declare the income on my personal taxes! I have separate home owners insurance on it as well. I didn’t meet the “guidelines”, no phone call to discuss how to work with me, just a stupid little text. I sent him paperwork showing my tax records and the ROBOT couldn’t think outside the box! I’m disgusted with the bank, which use to have our backs as firefighters!!!! I’ve never missed a payment on anything, I pride myself in this very simple fact. I only have one truck payment and only one mortgage. Nothing else is outstanding, absolutely nothing!

Paul Peacock1Service has decline a lot recently. I wanted to avoid using one of the big commercial banks, but with SF Fire, you end up paying extra fees. They offer an ATM Anywhere Rebate, but I just found out, it doesn't apply to my credit card when I use an ATM. So, I ended up paying a lot of $ to just use ATMs, especially while their branches are either closed, understaffed, or simply few & far between.

E. M.1Worst bank ever! Please choose another bank and save yourself the headache. I had fraud done on my account. Called in and told them. They didnt put a hold on my account. The fraudster took all my money over 3 days. All of this would have been stopped if they did their job correctly. Shame on SF Fire. Straight garbage.

Diego Navarro1Worst credit union I’ve ever worked with. Avoid this at all cost. People always have an attitude when you call.

Getty Young3Anyone living or working in San Francisco can bank here. Offer excellent basic banking services for free or low fee. You can use other credit unions' ATMs and branch service as though they are SF Fire CU. Free checking with some foreign ATM reimbursement. No foreign transaction fees (3+%) on debit and credit cards. On tech capabilities, it lags big banks and Fintechs.

Sang Kil1i used to love this bank. now their website and customer service has gone downhill. for example, i am trying to remove a roommate who has moved out from an joint account we use for the house. i have requested help on 4 separate occasions only to be given vague paperwork and instructions that makes no sense. you cannot even REPLY TO AN EMAIL RESPONSE that this bank sends you through their website or app. a wonderful bank has turned terrible and awful.

Jason Moring1Horrible costumer service, the online banking app is totally dysfunctional. My account kept getting locked for no reason and they wouldn't unlock it by phone. Do not use this bank.

Melanie Wise5Great credit union. I’ve been banking with them for 10 years and have always received professional, timely service. They don’t charge the huge fees of big banks.
