Steve2I tried to keep this account after moving from California, but it is time to cancel out this account and find something local. I wanted to support a Credit Union and not a bank. However, the wait times for any type of assistance is unacceptable and an estimated wait time isn't even given as you sit and wait endlessly for the most simple assistance. I also have 0 credit unions in the greater Orlando, Florida area to do in network business in. The only branch in the network did not survive post Covid... it has closed. Unfortunately, Safe does not realize this, so they still send you there as if it is open wasting over an hour of a commute thinking you'll have a branch to assist. Hold times are terrible, additional security measures are over the top keeping you from doing basic business and paying basic bills, small network, and low limits for bill paying and money transfers. I literally had my entire account put on hold because I tried to use their money transfer system to pay my attorney.

Paul1I've been a SAFE member for over twenty (20) years. They used to be good, but they have been slacking the last couple years. The last straw for me was going to Reno for my anniversary. I went to use my ATM card (debit transaction using my pin number) at a large casino. ATM machine says "unable to make transaction, contact your banking institution". It's 8pm on a Thursday night. The "Call 24" number is no longer what it used to be, it defaults to a corporate phone tree. Entered my bank account number and couldn't remember my Call 24 pin (its different than regular pin). It says to hit the pound key if you don't know your pin. Surprise! You've been taken back to the original menu of the phone tree. I got online and access my "Card on/off" feature. It says "no cards to be displayed". Are freaking kidding me? What happened to the old phone calls or text messages asking for approval when fraud was sensed??? Luckily I have other credit cards so I'm not stranded. I played this game with SAFE in 2005ish. I was camping in the Burney Falls area and they canceled my card when I used it at a hole in the wall general store. Had to next day mail a card to me in the middle of nowhere. I should have switched then. I have had a few car loans through Patelco. I have had nothing but a positive experience with them. Looks like I am switching my checking and savings over.

He was courteous and patient the entire 1 hour and 17 minute phone call. I am truly grateful for the excellent customer service. My wife and I thank Josh and Safe Credit Union for the respect and professionalism. I also wanted to add, I just got off the phone with Greg Beam. He was professional punctual and made me feel valued. He called me back when promised and made the process of refinancing two vehicle loans very simple. The whole process was surprisingly painless. Excellent customer service is hard to come by these days and I am very grateful.

Aussie Boy1This Credit Union Entity is sleazy. I firmly believe now, the name Safe is simply for branding purposes and to deceive and manipulate people’s psychology. They are not upfront about things. Genuinely disgusting!! They are a selfish, conniving financial institution. I truly feel betrayed and hating for not seeing through their nefarious intent. To all future Prospects - You don’t have to take this at face value, but as a decent human being, warning others of this sleazy credit union would be a good deed.

Shannon Caldwell1If I could give this bank a zero I would. It used to be very good and people were very friendly. Lately people have been very standoffish and I do not feel they value my business. In addition, I waited in line today only to find out that they were only taking appointments. Not only did I not receive an email about this, but there is nothing on the app that states this either. The manager at the door said they’ve been taking only appointments for months. I know this is a lie because I was in there two weeks ago without an appointment and my husband was in there yesterday without an appointment. I understand where the need for an appointment at this time, but lying to my face is disrespectful and shows the lack of regard for their members’ business. I will be looking for a new bank as of now.

Jim McGee1I applied for an equity loan increase. I already had an equity loan. I have not used . When I got around to doing the work and the estimate was higher than originally expected. I asked for an increase. Thirty days before work started. Finally the day work started Safe Credit Union says I can't increase my loan, after 30 days of loan applications and phone calls and emails Their reason, because my kitchen is under construction. I have been a customer for over 25 years and have good credit. And now I can't finish the remodel the way I wanted. Looking for another bank. There is no loyalty anymore. Just look for the better deal.

Jo1When paying off a loan be advised that if you make an over payment on your loan safe will charge maintenance fees on your savings account until the money is all used up. Most banks who loan you money and have been over paid will in fact send you a check reimbursing over payment. Safe will charge you fees until money is gone then close your account. No over draft fee or negative fees. So, be aware when paying off loans.

Debra Parker1I have been a member of SAFE for 49 years, yes when the credit union was only for United States Air Force Employees. Ever since it open up to the general public, the customer service is very poor and the call center representatives are incompetent and do not have the skill, knowledge or the experience to perform their job professionally and efficiently. I asked important question regarding Flood Insurance, this is requirement to secure my loan. I live in a flood zone. When I asked regarding the requirement to obtain flood insurance, SAFE rep told me no. I called the Federal Government that oversees flood plains to confirm I do not need flood insurance, they sternly said SAFE provided incorrect information and I need to maintain my flood insurance until notified by the Federal Government otherwise. Another situation, on August 25, 2017 I received a HomeOwners Insurance Bill from AAA that was due on September 1, 2017. I faxed the bill to SAFE as directed by their Call Center Representatives. It is September 8, 2017 and the bill is not paid. Today (8 Sep 2017), I called the Call Center again, they have no record of receving my fax. UNBELIEVABLE. SAFE's customer service is dysfunctional, unorganized and incompetent. Seriously thinking of closing account and banking at another institution that is responsible and reliable.

DINA RODGERS1I can't begin to express the disgust I have for Safe "Credit" Union. My mother has been a member in excellent standing since 1979. My son just became a member and coincidentally my nephew has to sell my deceased brothers car immediately and wanted my son to have a chance to buy it. My son has been employed for over 2 years and has yet to establish credit. He applied for a loan and was told for four days that his chances were "very good". The fifth day he was denied. My mother offered to co-sign for my son as my credit became less than stellar due to becoming disabled and am lucky to have a roof over my head as I type is. We foolishly believed there would be no problem, my mothers time with this credit union, her exemplary credit history, and the fact that she assisted my unemployed disabled brother to purchase the car through Safe "Credit" Union. So, today they went to Safe to apply for this loan, in the amount of $4,600 which my mother would be more than capable of paying in the unlikely event my son couldn't, and was denied because she is his grandmother and their policy is that only parents, guardians, or significant others can co sign. This is the most obsurd thing I have ever heard and when I inquired as to why they would have such a ridiculous policy I was told it was for the credit unions security. What? I believe the real reason is an issue of age discrimination. A co signer is just that no matter who the person is. If said co signer has or exceeds all the financial requirements there is no more security based on the relationship. There is no possible way that a parent or guardian would be any more or any less responsible for an unpaid loan than the man on the moon if he were to co sign for some one. Therefore, I am left with but one conclusion, and that is my mothers age and since they strung us along for the week my nephew can't wait any longer as he has to leave the state for work immediately. Needless to say, we will all be closing our accounts, especially after being basically told that if they would have allowed a co signer they would have asked for one, very curtly I might add, but the damage is done. A car is just a thing and my son will indeed get a car, but this car represented so much and because this intity has the money therefore the power, they had no problem ripping one families hearts from their chests and then acting as if we were a bunch of idiots for trying to get a loan from a credit union with an old ladies guarantee of payment.
