PNC Bank Reviews

Caitriona Duddy1By far the worst experience I’ve had with a service in my life. All the staff were very kind, I will not fault them on that. But honestly, the level of complications and head aches it took to set up a bank account completely over ruled any good qualities of the service. I’m an Irish student on a working visa in the States and went in to set up an account to be paid into. I used the Newtown Square branch in PA. First issue, the bank employee tried to set up my account as a resident. I was in the bank for an hour and a half to get a ten minute job done. We left having double checked the card was being sent to my address in PA. I was told I could have a card printed after processing (which I didn’t have time to wait for) so I called in a few days later and was told no, we don’t print cards on the spot for non residents. Then the card that went out in the mail arrived in Ireland. We went in to sort this problem and they said they couldn’t print a new one til the next day. Even though they printed one and sent it to Ireland no problem? We came in the next day and got the card. Didn’t have time to sit another hour and a half to set up online banking so it was left I’d do it at home. I go to set up online banking and I can’t do it because I didn’t provide a social. I call up to have it amended as I now have a social and I was told a number was filled in its place. I ask for this number and I’m told I can’t have it. Got transferred to telebanking, got it all ironed out. I’m at the final stages of set up and it turns out they don’t have my correct phone number. It was put in incorrectly in branch. The level of unprofessionalism and mess ups had me close to pulling my hair out. I had to call into the branch four times, call up to set up online banking three times, it just made me completely regret choosing PNC. I would not recommend the service as my experience has been terrible and any time I tried to express frustration it was brushed over. One star for friendly staff.
