I refinanced with them from GM Financial. After approving me my “specialist” went MIA. I started to think it was a scam. With zero interaction with them after that besides the app that I searched out to see if I was getting scammed. I Paid all my GM Fin on time and never had a issue. They took the money out on time and had a great app. I don’t have thousand in the bank so when I make a payment and they take a week to pull it they then charge me a fee. I have even tried to transfer from my bank to the bank account they give so that maybe it would post quicker then I can use it to pay my bill. Well nope and I still get a fee transferring from my own two accounts. That is straight ripping off. Long story shorter I have paid 1 payment and accrued over a hundred in penalties. I 100% believe they know their customers and can make easy money doing this to them. They profit off that and Then if we don’t pay they take the car I’ve been paying on for over 2 years and sell it. PROFIT PROFIT PROFIT!!! It’s 2022 it doesn’t take a week to process a transfer. I looked for a local way to just deposit the money after going to the atm but of course they have one location no where near their customers.

So I am changing my review again after today. I had my loan with this credit union. I was actually happy they took me. I was GRATEFUL, they gave me a chance when no one else would.... Then I said I really need to get into a local credit union since I'm out out or state customer. This was my plan all along. Well I called in to get my phone number changed on file. They tell me due to the patriot act they must comply with FEDERAL LAW and request a document to change my phone number. This document was my phone bill. I told them I said my local credit union didn't require it so why do you. They said well each credit union has their own policy. That tells me it's not federal law. Needless to say eventually they saw it my way and changed my phone number. Fortunately I got my loan refinanced through a local Credit Union. This Bank might have gotten all their money back but what they didn't get was all the interest they would have gotten. My local Credit Union dropped my monthly payment over $100 and my interest rate went from like 7% down to four something. If I had a megaphone I would use it to demonstrate how I feel about Penfed. Also their executive leadership also won't do anything. The bad reviews of this Credit Union on Google tell you everything you need to know. I was going to get a lawyer in fact I contacted mine. But I guess my sweetest comeback is knowing I don't have to deal with them anymore.

Never again. Refinance a loan with them from Navy Federal. Took them six days to approve me after completing the online application I received an automated email to click a link and upload some documentation. You go to click the link and it redirects you to a broken page so had to use alternative means to upload documents. Then once approved they mailed out my payoff check snail mail with no tracking information.....who does that? Now the cherry on top is they keep trying to dictate what address and state I can title the vehicle at. The vehicle is already titled in my name just need to do a simple lien holder update. Nope their title department is using a whole new title application to record themselves as the lien holder even after the clerks office said that isn't necessary. So now they have me ready to sell that vehicle so I can cut ties with them. They are the worst. I would rather pay higher rates at USAA or other bank than deal with them again. Hell sometimes I call in and they can't even find me in their system.

Horrible customer service, my husband filled out paperwork to add me to the account. Over a month later they still haven't added me. Sent in loan payment to branch. They received payment but still never applied it to the loan. I work in a credit union myself, I will never ever do anything with this credit union again. I've tried to call and all I get is a run around. I'm about to make some calls to the better business bureau.

Absolutely terrible customer service. They do not protect their customers at all. I was written a bad check and they closed MY account. They have no physical branches which meant i had to mail in the balance that the check was for to get my account reinstated. After my account was not restored i then had to hand write why my account defaulted ( due to the bad check) and send that to them, then it took 2 more business days to get my account back. I had never defaulted before this and my account was not default for more than 5 days! I will be finding another bank.

I was given such a quick response to my loan application. It was such an immediate response that I was uncertain that it was real. The interest rates were very favorable. I would recommend PenFed to anyone in search if a personal loan.

HOPE THIS HELPS FUTURE CUSTOMERS: USE A BETTER CREDIT UNION! I wish I would have read reviews prior to opening an account with this bank. I'm a new member establishing a relationship with PENFED. I transferred money to this institution from an external account to make a credit card payment for the first time & this experience has been problematic. The funds have been taken out of my external account & applied to my PENFED account, but I have been told that it will take 3-5 business days for my funds to be available (after they have been applied to my account). This is not good for people trying to keep their credit together because one can't make early payments prior to the initial statement posting unless you go through the lengthy self-automated phone system. I sent a request for someone to call me at 9pm tonight and no one did so I had to call them. RUN RUN RUN! After this transaction is completed and paid for, I will move my money elsewhere! This is my first time doing a transaction with PENFED and the worst banking experience I have ever had in life. I didn't know this was even possible with a bank. The online site isn't as user friendly as other banking sites & it seems they are not a client-centered institution, with the consumers best interest at heart. I'm underwhelmed, disappointed, unimpressed, and feel as though I need to take my money elsewhere. They have lost a new, high-value, and affluent member today. If my credit is impacted by this, I will be sure to hire an attorney immediately.

I opened my account in Puerto Rico and never had any issue with their services. Everything runs smoothly. Most of my activities are online, transfers , payments, credit card and loan applications. So far excellent. Better services than other banks here.
