NASA Federal Credit Union Reviews

J Burke5I have been with this bank for 20 years and I have to say it really is the only bank I want to continue doing business with. Everyone I've dealt with has been knowledgable and helpful, and I've not had to deal with any of the irritating policies and terrible customer service that other FCUs have like Navy, or any of the other banks like BOA or Citibank have. I have had all my loans through this bank and have been very happy. Our loan officer (John Hilliard) took exceptional care of us and made himself regularly available to send new rates when we bought our most recent home. Prices were fluctuating a lot at that time and since we were at the top of our budget even a small increase or decrease in rates made a huge difference in our monthly payment. We simply could not have done this without him. The sellers were also a huge pain to deal with so there were additional complications that caused a lot of work on the bank's end, and we just appreciate how patient everyone was with our situation. My recent car loan went smoothly and our loan officer for that was really nice and and also very fun which made it another great experience. There really is no other place for me when it comes to banks, and the Annapolis location in particular is my favorite location to visit. Thanks to you all for 20 years of outstanding service. People don't appreciate how a bank can make a huge difference in people's lives but I have to attest to the truth of that. Thanks for making complicated transactions and situations and generally not-pleasurable adulting as easy and convenient as possible. Side note: The app hasn't been around the whole time I've been a member and I wanted to give you a shout-out for that too. It is simple and functions well and makes all my transactions easy and seamless.

Amber Emory1My debit card informationhad been stolen, so I needed a new card. The first gentleman who helped me was very nice, but when I went to the ATM the card didn't work (surprise surprise). I went back in and they said have a seat while they fixed it. I waited 20 minutes and finally walked back to see how long it would take, the woman who had reset my card said she didn't realize that I was waiting even though she saw me take a seat. Terrible customer service.
Response from the ownerHi Amber - we are sorry to hear of the unusual wait that you experienced. We will send your feedback to management to review to make process improvements. Since you have a debit card with us, we just wanted to let you know of our mobile banking app that allows you to lock your card immediately if your card is lost or stolen. We hope your future encounters with us are nothing short of stellar!

Karim Sharif1Scathing wouldn't be a strong enough word for how I feel. I've been a Credit Union member for years and believe in them whole heartedly but ... ditch this one and let me tell you why! They've become fee oriented and their service is geared towards putting you in a position to pay them. Credit Unions are supposed to be banking with the benefit of the members in mind... not profit driven policies to drain your wallet. The purpose of online banking, is to help you control and automate bill payments, instead they arbitrarily take out the amounts you set up days in advance of when you want the item paid. It makes so much sense to setup an automated payment so that it hit's when you get your direct deposit... not a day before, so that they can NSF you and charge you $32. Then they leave you stranded. On Saturday I get a call from the fraud department while I was at Target... 'we noticed you had charges in Brazil, are they you?' Of course I said no, I've never been there. We are going to cancel your card they said and I replied but I'm at the store, with a full cart and no other means of payment or any money for the rest of the weekend. I requested they wait a half an hour for me to check out and hit the ATM... No sir, cut me off there and then and I had to wait until Monday to access my account. Automated payments make moving your account very hard because, it's a lot of work to re-set all that up at a new institution. That Monday, I closed out my account and moved all my many however, I knew there was some stuff still out there so I left enough to cover it. Oh how wrong I was and several more items cleared... leaving me with 4 courtesy pay's (which I had previously opted out of but they did anyway) and 5 NSF fees. I immediately covered the amounts that came in but refused to pay the fee's. After speaking to my attorney, I was convinced the wise thing to do was to pay them off to close the account and file in small claims for the difference. What a nightmare!
