MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Reviews

georgiann perry5I have done the banking for my family business for over 40 years. I have to say that by far the Mid Florida Gulf to Bay branch is the best bank I have had the pleasure of dealing with. It is so nice to be greeted when entering the bank and knowing the employees are happy to see you. By far better than the big banks where the greeting is "you could do this at the ATM". Laura was great at setting up multiple accounts for the businesses and personal accounts. She went above and beyond. I would say the employees could be giving lessons on what is truly good customer service. If you are looking for a great bank to meet all your needs, this is the bank.

Fred Rost1Bad customer service at this branch. It is run by Hispanics that get better treatment. All this POS credit union is steal fees from you. This is not a good credit union at all. I have done business with credit unions all my life. The big banks are coming around. Look elsewhere. Garbage all day long.
Response from the ownerHi Fred, I'm sorry to hear that we've let you down and would like to help. Can you please send an email to [email protected] with the first and last name on your account and some information about what happened? -Rebecca

Brad Gladfelter1This is the rudest financial center I have ever dealt with in my life..this bank has ZERO customer service. I have an auto loan with them and the mafia does less shakedowns than Midflorida does when you are a month behind..I guess they forgot we are in a recession and a pandemic...I rarely write reviews but I have literally dealt with only 1 friendly person the entire time (not counting the people who work directly in the bank, they are always friendly)...super rude and hard to deal with and I cringe every time I have to speak with these ghetto employees

Brandon Strout5Today was my first time at this branch. Every MFCU branch I've been to has been excellent to work with. Nicholas helped with multiple things I needed today and was extremely helpful and timely. Glad I bank with MFCU.

Dayna Barkley1So mad right now... I have been a long time member of an out of state credit union that participates in shared branching, so I SHOULD be able to manage financial issues locally. I received a check & prepared it for mobile deposit with my out of state credit union by writing "for mobile deposit only at..." and endorsed it. I learned as I attempted to deposit it online though, that it exceeded the allowable amount, so I would need to deposit it at a shared branch locally. I located the closest shared branch, took my check to that location and prepared my deposit slip. I was greeted by the rep, Dana, who also later claimed to be the supervisor, I explained the issue with the endorsement. She explained to me that she didn't think they could accept the check bcuz of the endorsement due to bank policy and having no way of knowing if I had already processed it online. I told her she could contact the credit union to confirm that I had not deposited it, and confirm that it exceeded the allowable amount to deposit. Instead of doing so, she took her time reviewing the policies in a book, before finally calling another branch or the back office and getting permission. I forgot to mention I was on a tight timeline because I work the same hours and I had to go in the lobby for shared branch services, so I was on a break and my time was being eaten up quickly by her research. After getting off the phone she explained that they could take it, but she would have to contact my credit union to confirm first. I complained vocally because I was not anticipating needing an act of Congress to DEPOSIT (not cash) this check... She then told me she was trying to be nice and helpful and because I was being rude, she was done helping me and refused to deposit it. She knew that this check would be useless to me by doing so. I asked for a supervisor, which she claimed to be, although her name tag did not mention it, and my thought is, if she was a supervisor, why would she need to get approval from another department, if she was able to confirm it has not been processed?! This was really a matter of respecting my time & could have been resolved with a two minute call. Instead, she took 10+ minutes to come back to the path I'd suggested in the first place! I left without getting it deposited & added another business that I will not be supporting anymore. Thank you, supervisor Dana!
Response from the ownerHi Dayna, I'm sorry to hear about your experience and understand why you were frustrated. Thank you for taking the time to reach out so we can work on improving. -Rebecca

Joshua De Armas4I don't know what everyone is complaining about honestly. I only used midflorida to get a loan for a motorcycle and had no problems. My loan was extremely reasonable and affordable. Laura made it so easy for me to understand since I'm new to credit and lending in general. No scams or BS. Thankfully. Got my new bike and am happy paying 80$ a month for it on a secured loan with MidFlorida. Pretty great interest rates and good service so far. Only 4 stars because I have great initial impressions but it could change.

Rochae Zwicharowski5Nicholas Stanger (Gulf to Bay location) was extremely helpful, friendly and took the time to explain everything to me in detail. I’ll definitely recommend them to my friends and family.

Allyson New1I needed 2 months worth of bank statements...there is no way to access it online which is ridiculous. They only allow you to order statements! Decided to go into this certain location and the guy HAD NO IDEA WHAT A BANK STATEMENT WAS. Had no idea how to print one out instead he charged me A DOLLAR for each account transaction history! He didn't even ask a manager for help. So pathetic. Will never ever go back to this location.
Response from the ownerHi Allyson, The experience you've described doesn't live up to the high customer service standards that we set for ourselves and I can understand why you were frustrated. Thank you for bringing this to our attention so we can work on improving. -Rebecca

Catherine Jones1So I work in the banking field. I transfer funds from my other financial institution to this savings. I figured 3 days before it's in my account. When I checked it was 8 business days. The only reason I have the savings is because I had to be a member because they financed my car. I figured I'll keep deposit money into the savings to save and pay the car payment from that account. So I called and of course you have to provide your phone number and someone has to call you back. I missed the first call this morning because I was on my way to work. I called again while at lunch. Waited for the call. The rep called back and I was told because it's a new savings it's up to a 10 day hold for a transfer. The money already has been debited out my other fin institution account. What. Then she said if I use the savings to make my payment I have to keep a balance requirement. She released the hold. So I said to her, you don't have to worry about me transferring funds to that savings account anymore. I will withdraw the funds that is in the savings and take my business somewhere else and leave it at 0. I can make the car payment from my other institution account. What a horrible experience.
Response from the ownerHi Catherine, Thank you for reaching out. Holds are put in place to protect both MIDFLORIDA and our members from fraud. While these holds are necessary for fraud protection, I do completely understand why you’re frustrated. New members' holds are a few days longer than those for existing members, and we apologize for that inconvenience and for not making you aware of it at account opening. Please rest assured that holds will be much shorter after your account is at least 60 days old. Thank you for your continued membership and have a great day! –Kelly
