      Horrible experience! They will lose and compromise your data and act like it is not a big deal but just a little “oversight”. Do NOT do business with them! I tried to open Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) with them, was working with them for days, and something that could be a beginning of beautiful business relationship was about to convert to ugly lawsuit. They exposed my identity. They compromised all my data: SSN, account number, all demographic data, income, occupation, address, credit score and creditor’s names and balances. They sent my HELOC papers (confidential information) in OPEN UNSEALED envelope via regular mail (not even a special carrier as DHL, FedEx or UPS). The open envelope was in the mail for two days – enough to do catastrophic damage to financial well-being. I am not even sure that I received all papers in that mail. The compliance letter was sent to Credit Union, including the President of Mainsteet CU, and he never responded. The branch manager (Olathe East where incident happened) emailed me: please forgive us for the oversight. Really??? They tried to re-issue new account to me, and messed up in the application again! That raises the question: is there anything they can do right? Obviously not. Save you time and piece in mind and Do NOT do business with Mainstreet CU! There are much better Credit Unions around, like Community America Credit Union. Took them under two hours (from start to finish) do my HELOC loan application and approval in the nice and secured way.

      Customer service and tellers are condescending and not helpful. If you value customer satisfaction then I would kindly recommend a different credit union.

      New employees need to be trained better. I had to deal with an employee who did not bother greeting me but instead stared at me silently the whole time until I broke the awkward silence. She made a simple interaction very uncomfortable and I have not been back to this location ever since.

      I moved my money from Community America Credit Union to here about three years ago because I had heard they were more customer oriented. While some of the employees at the 135th St. location do bend over backwards for customers, other employees with the credit union are less than desirable to deal with (e.g. negative attitudes), and the credit union is definitely behind from a technological standpoint. For example, when we applied for a credit card, they would not do it over the phone. We had to drive up to the credit union to complete an application. This was about a year and a half ago. When we applied for auto loans, it took them almost two days to get us a finalized response after we submitted the invoices/book out sheet and the buyers' orders. We were both approved quicker elsewhere and at lower interest rates (e.g. 0% and 2.9%), so we didn't end up financing the loans with them. While I get that they cannot compete with 0%, there is no excuse for the poor turn around time and a higher rate (something like 3.4 at the time). But I will say that if you complain to management, they attempt to correct the problems. But a customer shouldn't have to chronically complain to get their credit union in to the 21st century. I kind of wish I stayed with Community America at this point, but it is too much of a hassle to switch everything again. But I will switch if things get worse.
