Run away! This place is a scam. When I used the loan payoff amount, which for legit credit unions includes accruing interest, it left a balance. I immediately paid the balance online which left another 3 cent balance. So I paid 10.00 online. Then their autopay system took another payment on the zero balance loan, and I had to call in to get it reversed. When I asked to close my accounts, the rep started telling me all the requirements for a letter I must send in. I hung up because I was into position to write a manifesto down, and was told she could not give me the instructions in print. As I said, this place is a scam and it will probably take me a very long time to untangle myself from them. Run away and run fast!

I just received a home improvement loan through them and am trying to make the first payment. The communication that they have sent on how to repay is extremely confusing so I tried giving them a call on 2 different occasions. Their customer service department doesn't even know how to provide payment instructions: they stated to make bill pay checks payable to the loan ID. After a very frustrating conversation, I thanked them for their time, trying to be cordial, and they hung up on me without a further word. I initiated a payment through their QR code in order to not be late. This option limits how you can initiate payments and only allows you to initiate ACH payments through them. It doesn't allow you to pay with a debit card, it doesn't outline how to pay via mail (aka setting up through your current online bill pay, hence I requested payee instructions) and it doesn't outline how to set up a transfer from an existing credit union (to initiate through the existing credit union). The communication and lack of instruction is absurd in the technological age we are living in. I have had other loans which were 1000 times clearer and easier to navigate payment. I'll happily update my review if they improve but off to a horrible start. I'm beyond frustrated and stressed making the first payment.

I wish there were negative numbers to rate. This credit union is a nightmare. RUN to another lender if you need a loan. I can’t wait until I can pay off my loan and NEVER have to deal with LFCU again.

      Response from the owner

Beyond thrilled with these people. They're easy to work with, easy to talk to, easy to communicate with, their online system is very basic but extremely intuitive and easy to manage. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for the awesome review, Matthew! We're so happy to hear of your positive experiences - great to have you as a member. We'll gladly take the five-star review, ten-star comment! :)

I couldn't recommend this less. Terrible customer service. Terrible communication skills, and quite possibly one of the most "lost" staffs ive ever seen. No one knows what they are doing or how to take a payment. I have been routinely left on hold for longer than 10 minutes, with the longest being almost 35 minutes. This terrible business has a frustratingly bad website that often doesnt work. Save your time and money and bank/get a loan from anyone else.

I have been a member of this credit union for the last couple of years and the Ladies of Lafayette Credit Union as I call them have taken care of me and my wife from day one. Angie assisted us through the mortgage loan request and answered every question we had for her. She showed us how much money we would save vs going with a builders financing and it the thousands. Kat and Wendy are always there and assist me with my day to day transactions. They are so courteous and willing to assist that is hard to go to another branch. When you get top flight service and a smile to go with it, why you go somewhere else. University Blvd branch is great place to bank, they are great people and a great bank, give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I reached out to this financial institution for financial assistance. I was in contact with an employee by the name of B Wright who was extremely unprofessional. I do not recommend doing business with this credit union and to go elsewhere!

I'm fully convinced that the payment system is broken to purposely try to force late payments.
