  My husband Warren and I have been dealing with Mr. Doug for going on 10 years now and every time we stop in it is like visiting an old friend. He has always given us great deals on everything from tvs to tools and laptops. There have been many times we have dropped by for electronic advice and troubleshooting in which he always took time to help with whatever we needed. He is honest and more than fair making J & W Pawn in New Bern a pleasant experience.

  We have delt with J&W for years. They are always professional and friendly. They have been fair and have worked very nicely with us. I would and do recommend them to anyone above all others pawn shops. I want to emphasize what a great place this is to do business with. They are pleasant and professional and fair. It would be a great place to do your Christmas shopping. . Doug is wonderful to deal with and will be very helpful. All of the staff try to help you in any way they can.

  I’ve been coming here for a couple of years now, and Doug and the other associates always takes great care of me!! Everyone here wants you to get your belongings back, and that says a lot when it comes to pawn shops. Most of them hope they can keep certain items you pawn, but not here. They’ve always worked with me, weather I’m late on a payment, or just having a hard time. Great customer service. I won’t go anywhere else!!

  I will never in my life recommend this pawn shop to anybody!! The owner was so rude, it was unbelievable! I will never ever be going back to this place again. Honestly made me want to physically punch him in the face. So beware everyone who’s looking for a good pawn shop that’s open on Sunday in New Bern, North Carolina; just wait till Monday because it is not worth it. Again I recommend that no one ever go here and experience what I had just experienced. A business owner should never treat a customer like this, I as a customer should not feel like I’m being talked down to. I am very upset about this.

  I bought a handgun from here and Leslie was very helpful and knowledgeable with info for me being new at owning a gun. Just wanted to say thanks to her for all the help and if you want someone to talk with you and teach you a few things not just make a sale then go here.

  UNDER NEW management!!! Best time to go is Monday through Friday. Go see Leslie! She is the best. She is very patient and kind! This girl knows her stuff! Only downfall is Doug, he works the weekends, awful customer service... So, in short avoid going here on the weekends!

  I have known Doug for over 10 years now I’ve always dealt with him at the pawnshop and he’s always given me great deals on things I have bought and sold. He’s always been more than a friend to me and my family and I trust his judgment on prices more than anyone’s. I hope to continue seeing him at the pawnshop and wish Doug and JW pawn the very best in the future

  I already have been down on my luck and I don’t like asking any one for anything. I needed my medicines and my pride would not allow me to ask the few relatives I have for anything else. I borrowed against some things of mine and when I recently became employed again, I proceeded to get my things back. I have one item left that the nice young man that works in there called me about. I appreciated him calling me and said I would be in there Sunday. Mind you, I had not gotten my pay check yet. After paying what I had to pay, I only had enough for gas for work next week. I had written myself a note to call J&W and see if they would give me to Thursday to get it out. I called and asked how much did I owe, explained my situation, and the man lit in on me. “ You should have had it out. He has bills to pay. People like you will call and say you are coming and you don’t.” I said sir “ I have only been back to work a couple months and everything I had in there I have picked up except this item.” He said yeah, well let me see. What’s your name? I told him and I also told him “everybody that tells you that is not trying to get over on you.” He checked and said “ you just call back tomorrow.” I have never been made to feel so low. He also treated me rudely when I came on there one time before. Once I obtain my last item, I will never set foot in there again. You never know what people are going through. It’s no sense in treating people that way. Addendum....went in the shop on this past Thursday 10/18. Bruce is helping me on this final transaction. He is awesome and a people person unlike the man who I dealt with before who needs to be kept in a back room...away from people. I have dealt with the public all of my life and would never disrespect or demean anyone. I just pray for people like that and do my best to stay away from them. A person’s reputation follows them everywhere. You never know who is watching. Thank you Bruce. You made a horrible situation better.
