My wife and I have been members of Hiway FCU for a long time. Over this time we have tried to shop around, but always seem to come back to Hiway. They are one of the few that consistently make banking an enjoyable experience. We always receive excellent and personal customer service and they have always been willing to go above and beyond when we ask them to. Contrary to the other reviewers, this is a great Credit Union.

If I can give zero stars I would! Member for 15+ years. Never had an issue whatsoever with tellers verifying my account information until tonight going in for a deposit. I went in to deposit a few checks into a joint account and the bank teller had the audacity to tell me that there was actually a dedicated line for doing just that! DEPOSIT! oh really? This was a shocker to me because I swear there was no signs or desk marked with "Deposit only" and as I was about to walk away at the same time the teller turned around to say "it's ok" he can help me with my deposit "but for next time use the Deposit only line." I was so confused because there were 6 other members in line that I'm sure was making deposits same day and none of the other tellers were telling them to use the Deposit only line. Then when I asked him to deposit my checks into a joint account he asked for my ID and then proceeded to say that I cannot have any outstanding loan balance or overdue fees on my account to deposit checks in ( I literally was laughing with tears inside hearing this), asked me for my account number, checked my ID, had it verified and then proceeded to make the transaction into my checking account. Afterwards, I asked him if it was deposited into the joint account I requested, he says he deposited into my checking account under my name, like seriously!? At this time I was not sure if he was fit to do this job. I shook my head and at that time he realized what was wrong and reversed the deposit into my other joint account. 2 things for sure 1) the employee was having a bad day 2) they did not understand what the customer was requesting when it was clearly explained. Advice to Hiway management: Post signs of said dedicated "Deposit only" line or desk and listen to your customers concerns and request. Hiway used to be a good local community Credit Union bank that has employees who cares about the members, a greeter at the lobby desk and now its overrun by recently college grads and dropouts who thinks they have a PhD in banking.

10/26/19 Retraction has been received by the court. This company is obituary surfing. My mom passed away and their attorney claimed against the estate. My mom has never banked here and now we have to pay more on attorney probate fees. Talked to Diane today 10/21. Attorney supposedly filed a retraction on 9/13 but not received by the court as of yet. She was very helpful. Will give a better score when that is done even though the attorney cost the estate refiling fees and court costs that were bogus.

I love this credit union and the interest rates they offer. Nice people all around. I have been with them for 14+ years. I do not recommend dealing with their employee Victor who was unable to help me today or a couple years ago when I called as well. He was unable to solve my problem either time and told me to call back at a certain time and it just so happened that the certain time was when he was not in the office. He clearly didn't want to help me. Thanks Lee (loan officer) for taking the time to fix Carl? and Lee's mistakes.

I have been a member for almost 4 years, now. Some things they are great at, while others, they are horrible. They do not cash third party checks, even a business check. They charge members fees for cashing checks and money orders. They do not help with credit building, as they claim. Even after years' worth of consistently increasing payroll deposits, you cannot get a loan. I was told that in order to even be considered, your score MUST be at least 790. What?!? If there is a better CU, use it. I am EXTREMELY dissatisfied after all this time.

      Response from the owner

Thank you for your comments, we appreciate all member feedback, good or bad because it helps us in making changes to address member needs. It is true that we do not accept 3rd party checks, due to the increased likelihood of them being fraudulent, which protects Hiway and our members from possible losses. To address your concerns regarding fees, we do charge some nominal fees to cover costs on some types of accounts, including single-service and Builder accounts. We would like the opportunity to discuss your situation and assist you in building credit. All Hiway members have access to private confidential credit counseling through our partners at LSS. In regards to the credit score reference, we apologize if you received other information. We work with each member based on their individual situation and do provide loans to members with lower credit scores than 790. Our member advocate would be happy to talk with you about the concerns you had when writing this review. Please contact Diane M. at 651-291-1515. Thank you.

So, they have been taking money out of one of my children's accounts for over a year and a half, while he has been overseas in Iraq. I have tried to get them to help us with the IRS, who got the wrong social security number from Hi-way. The President declined stating that it was not going to help Hi-Way to help me. Not going to benefit Hi-Way? Are you kidding me? On the advice of their attorney? What is wrong with these people? I ask for help and they say no because it doesn't do anything for them? Yet, I get an email from him asking me to write my Senator to complain about a possible new fee, which Hi-way will only pass along to use anyways. What a loser. No such thing as customer service from this guy. And Louise? Talk about rude and demeaning. To both myself and my son. I guess this is how they treat veterans and judging by the other reviews, most of their customers. The car buying service they have is a joke. I was always under the impression that a Credit Union was a better deal than a Bank. Run away from this place as fast as you can

Your Loan Officer, Katelyn Kanuit, is EXTREMELY RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. She has the audacity to SIT THERE AND REPLY TO MY EMAILS ONLY AFTER I TELL HER I'M WORKING WITH SOMEONE ELSE AND CONTINUES TO ARGUE WITH ME OVER EMAIL. I couldn't believe it! She has ignored 4+ phone calls from me and my co applicant and her emails are extremely unprofessional and contain slang. Plus, I have had reoccurring problems with my debit card for YEARS. Please for the sake of your customers, GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER! The current Loan Officer I am working with has been great and accommodation, so thank you for that (Karen Malecha). EDIT 10/2/19: It took Karen 3 months to reply to an email, and nothing was explained correctly to me regarding my loan. I am extremely disappointed.
