Freedom Mortgage Reviews

Molly Brown1Just like everyone else is stating: this company deserves negative stars. One star is too generous. Their customer service/call center is ran by the most unprofessional, rude, incompetent staff I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. They will fight and argue with you, continuously tell you that you are wrong, and will NEVER offer a solution. They took advantage of my elderly father who has never refinanced before. They deviously convinced him to refinance with them, and promised everything would stay the same as his original loan. Well, they did not include property taxes in his escrow account, which the original loan clearly included. Now they’re saying “too bad, it’s been 6 months so it’s not our problem”. They DID NOT explain anything to him other than forcing him to sign here and there while refinancing. If you look at the reviews here, it seems they are screwing a lot of people with their escrow accounts. Something is fishy. They’re liars, cheats, and abuse elderly customers. This company is shameful and should not be in business.

chris mcbeath1Simple as this !! DO NOT under any circumstances ever use this company I’ve had the worst service and experience with them in the last six years of owning my current home! Was trying to buy a second home and use them and was lied to the entire process promise to 3% or so rate given a 5% rate with almost $7000 closing cost! And that’s with a better than 800 credit score and excellent debt to income ratio!!! And if by chance you found yourself getting a loan through one bank and they sell to this company do everything you can to get away from them as soon as possible that’s how I ended up with them the first time…

Clint Blair1This company tried to raise my mortgage saying my escrow wasn't right but when I checked into my escrow I found out they was charging me 3 times for my home taxes . Freedom mortgage is a company that tries to over charge people do not use them.

Jason Abbott1Absolute worst company I have dealt with EVER. I even recently refinanced with them, which I fully regret. I've been trying to get them to pay my escrow, which they control, but they haven't paid it and it's been over 4 weeks trying to get that accomplished, and still not resolved. Each time you call it's a minimum of 45 minutes on hold. After reaching someone they have you verify information, only to have to transfer you to someone else...which is another 30-45 minute hold Each time I get someone and somewhere it takes ~ 1.5 hours. They asked me to email in the letter that my insurance company mailed them, I did, with an explanation to PAY the escrow!!!!!! Five days later nothing...no reply, no paid escrow. So I called again (another 1.5 hours of time lost) and they were asked explicitly by my insurance agent to over night it or it could cause a delay if it got lost. Here we are 1 week later and they still haven't received the escrow. I was told on yet ANOTHER call (1.5 hours later another day) that they could process a credit card payment. They had explicit instructions to work with my insurance company to take that payment. Now they are giving him the run around because they "mailed a check" one week ago (which could be lost in the mail). My home owners insurance expires at midnight tonight if I don't come up with $1,200 to pay myself. Meanwhile my escrow sits nice and fat at $3,500. I mean this company is the very definition of a siloed company in which no one really knows how things work, only to escalate to another person...who doesn't know. I would highly recommend using another company or bank for your home financing.

rebecca vonrissen1WORST company ever, in fact I asked for everything in writing to be emailed to me as I feel as if they are trying to scam me and make my escrow short, along with my home owners insurance, and can't even get an email stating this. Once this is all said an done, I am switching mortgage companies as this company is trying to SCAM the customers out of their money and to default on home loans/escrow/home owners insurance.

brandon Scott1Absolutely awful, rude people. All I want to do is set up auto pay after my mortgage was sold off to this company and their website and phone systems are usually always down or not working. I hate to say this but after 3 just three months I’m gonna look at refinancing from this company. Absolutely terrible.

John Ward1I got an escrow shortage notice in November. I called to ask what amount I could pay as a lump sum to avoid having a new higher mortgage rate. I was given a specific amount to pay, and I paid it right then and there. Went about my business and paid my regular amount for December and again in January. Just now, I got a call saying my mortgage for January wasn't paid. They "found" my payment, and it was labeled as unapplied. They still made me pay an extra $100 despite it being their error, and my mortgage is still $75 higher for the next two months and it will end up higher by $40 when all is said and done. Very upset right now.

Laura Meyer1They don’t know what the words “debit” and “credit” mean. That’s what customer service said to my mother after they cashed her escrow check and then deducted the same amount from her escrow account. Then they raised her monthly payments by half to cover the shortage. They stole her money!

Jonathan Isenberg1Absolutely the WORST mortgage company I have ever worked with. They system doesn't even work correctly. The only positive review on here is from an employee! Report that review as a conflict of interest.

Will Wilson1Absolutely the worst mortgage company ever. Was contacted at 6:15pm to review my current mortgage with them and my refinance options. The employee got smart with me when I said I didn't want to refinance for only a $40 dollar saving. He then hung up on me. When I called back and asked to speak with his supervisor/manager he hung up on me again. Completely unprofessional and I will be going with another company to refinance. A company that actually respects their customers and treats them like a human being and not a dollar sign.
