ELGA Credit Union Saginaw Reviews

Brendan Sisco-Embrey1Very disappointed in the loan department, I work for a dealership that deals with 20 Lenders (elga not one) and my girlfriend found a car she really likes, she wanted to use her personal bank, which is elga for simplicity sake considering she has her Checking and Savings here. Booked the vehicle at the dealership I work at, had a mechanic inspect it, everything checked out good. Today we spent all day playing phone tag trying to get this sorted out and they will not finance her on a vehicle that has 70k miles for 6 grand, granted its a bit older but a nice one owner, from Florida, something that’ll be a cheap payment and be able to be payed off in a couple of years. Went somewhere else and we got her financed in 25 minutes. Idk how we messed around from 930-4pm and couldn’t get results, but another local bank got her bought in under half an hour. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!

Sunshine Jen Stemmler5I was ecstatic to find out Elga was in Saginaw. I've been a member for over 10 years. They secured auto loans, RV loan and personal loans for me. They helped me with first credit card after my credit was ruined by ex. They are pleasant and helpful.
Response from the ownerJennifer, thank you for your review! And thank you for being a member!

Clare Margres1I was part of a merger and my small local credit union got bought out by ELGA. I'm very unhappy with the service I get from them as it takes 30 minutes on the phone and talking to 3 different people to get a simple answer like "what account number do I use for direct deposit". Do not recommend.
Response from the ownerOur branch manager reached out to you to help resolve your complaint. We hope that we were able to turn around your frustration and show you that we really do want to get your questions answered. We apologize for the trouble and hope to make future interactions better! Thank you for talking with us.

Mike Crawford5One of the best Credit Unions around. Hope is the greatest person and representative for the credit union and has always been able to help me with any questions or concern. She is awesome. It is truly a pleasure being a customer. :)

Gail Sype2It's okay but was better when it was not part of the ELGA system. You can't even make a direct phone call into this facility, which is just RIDICULOUS. I need to ask a quick question, but I can't because I need to leave a message for someone down in Burton, MI. The concern for and caring about customers has dropped dramatically.

Gary Ingersoll5Have been with valley state since 1975. always courteous and friendly. Had bad experience with state employee credit union in redford township while working in detroit. Much better, particularly since they moved from Caro. Saginaw is only short distance from my home in Bay City . Hope is very easy to deal with, have known her for years

Dan Hergenreder Jr1This is the absolute worst place I have ever banked in my life. Please stay away from this place. This place is garbage, and hires incompetent employees. Still seeking management's response. I've had an account here from 1998 - Present. Once I turned 18 I wanted to get a debit card. I go in and fill out everything I need to fill out and I am to expect the card two weeks later in the mail. 2 weeks later.. nothing. I call again and they act like they haven't received anything from me and tell me I have to fill out another form to get my card because I haven't yet. (Which I did the first time) So again, I go in to fill out the form and am told to wait 2 weeks. Finally I received my card! BUT WAIT, I was missing something. I was also suppose to receive online login credidentials for online banking. Nope, nothing! So here we are again, I call and ask for this to be mailed to me, sure it'll be another 2 weeks. 2 weeks pass and I receive something in the mail! I received 2 over draft statements for my checking for both times I used my debit card during that 2 weeks. (Keep in mind these are both less than $2 purchases.) So now, they took $14 out of my account to cover the over draft fees. Furious because I couldn't get into my account online and was charged for an over draft on an account I couldn't manage I call and ask for a refund for the charges. "We'll have Stan call you back" (the manager) Okay fine, I'll wait. Days pass.. no call. I go in and am told the same thing, stans not in right now. We'll have him call you. Nothing! Again! Rinse and repeat I go in AGAIN. No stan. "He'll be sure to call you" I never received that call, or my creditentials. Months later I realize I had forgotten about the charges. So today, I go in again to see if they can help me. And I am greeted by a new manager that replaced Stan 90 days ago when the NCUA took over the Credit union. I explain to her what has happened, and she says no notes have been added to your account so I see no record of you trying to figure this out. And now, because it has been over six months I cannot help you at all. (Over 6 months means in October) So here I am November 10th, being told they will not refund me because I didn't take the initiative to get my money back before the six months was up, when I went in to the main branch 35 minutes from my house twice, and called about the same issue within the same month of the issue. Why should I be responsible for them not calling ME back? The answer is im not. I withdrew everything besides the minimum account balance and left. There are simply no benefits to this credit union as opposed to other credit unions at all. Their APY rates are lower than any other banks I can find, they are taken over by the NCUA, I can walk into most other credit unions and get a debit card printed, and they SUCK at calling back. I will never see that $14 again, or an apology. Steer clear of this place. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. I will update if any action is taken on their end but I do not see that happening.
