City Pawn Shop Reviews

Tom Bayer5I am from out of town (Pittsburgh PA) and we dont have so many pawn shops up north. Upon entering I commented to an owner that this shop was both big and well-stocked! He laughed and said it was actually more empty than ever due to pandemic (no laptops or computers at all)! But to me this place was great - many tools, jewelry, guitars - selection and prices were great, and guns! Too bad I cant buy a gun down here since I am not a NC resident! I found a great Fender Telecaster guitar and am simply debating if I need another one or not!

Ronald Dunne5Was traveling thru NC to get to western MD and was running short on cash. Stopped in and pawned some jewelry i was wearing. They loaned me a fair amount and explained how long i had to pick it up and what it would cost. I stopped back 3 weeks later and picked it up. It was as they said it would be. They were all very nice even cleaned it for me. If I needed to use them again I would go out of my way to do so.

Thai Lam1I called in to see if they had a specific pistol in stock. They seemed fine on the phone, so despite the average reviews, I figured to give them a try. I find the pistol I inquired about. I was not offered any help; I had to request help from one of the three employees standing around while I was the only customer inside the store. He hands me the pistol without clearing or checking the chamber. I rack the pistol back to clear the chamber and dry fire the glock to test the action and trigger reset because I wanted to make sure the used pistol was operating correctly. He criticized me for checking the operation of the pistol and saying, "why do you rack it back or it makes no sense to dry fire". The reviews are accurate; go to a different dealer or pawn store with better reviews. I walked out with cash in my pocket, ready to make a deal. Don't waste your time with this place.

Lisa Martin5The young man who helped me today was wonderful. He isn't the owner but should be. I highly recommend City Pawn above all in Cabarrus County. He was extremely attentive and listened to all my concerns with a great deal of patience. The young man is a true professional. Thanks to his attentive and alert presence. I would especially like to commend him for her professionalism and superlative skills.

Bradley Harris1I have been going in this place for about two years on and off now. They have some musical gear that has been in that store for about the same amount of time I have been visiting. Yet the prices for that gear is the same it was two years ago. They pretty much have used gear priced at the same cost as new gear. What kind of sense does that make. Ever heard of putting items on sale to blow them out? This shop is clearly not serious about selling product since they have nearly new pricing on used gear. They must be making money off their loans and don't care about selling product. Why not keep making that money off loans and put a reasonable markup on things to make money on that too. Or run some blowout sales for things that have been on the shelf for over 6 months or more. I went in today and was looking at a guitar amp I have had my eye on for a long time. This amp has been in that store for at least over 6 months. The value of the amp with the condition it is in is worth about $275 according to Bluebook. They have it priced at $399 and I am not sure if it works or not. I had asked the guys when I walked in if they were having any special Black Friday sales, like an additional percentage off. They said no we have deals every day, this is a Pawn shop. I was saying in my mind oh yeah I have never seen any deals in this place. I said I was interested in an amp and I wanted to test it out. I never buy anything like this without a test. The amp was missing a power cord that is why I asked. He said hold on a minute. I had also asked him if that was the best price. He sent some guy over, could have been the owner I don't know. The guy said the best I can do is $375 and if you want to buy it I will find a cord for you to test it and walked off. So he offered me a whopping 6% of the marked price of an amp they probably gave about $120 for. I am not going to buy something like this without testing it first. To me he came across you want to test it, buy it. So bottom line is if you are in Concord and are looking for some great price on used stuff, avoid this place. They aren't serious about selling anything at all with the jacked up prices they have and unwillingness to negotiate. That store will continue to have stuff just collect dust forever until they get serious about selling it.

Light Bringer3They usually give me good deals on loans but i wouldnt buy anything from them because once they sold me a computer. I needed cash a few weeks later i tried pawning it and the guy told me that the computer had a line at the bottom which meant it was going out. Now this line was there when i bought it and he eas the same guy that sold it to me. He refused to give me a loan and said that the line wasn't there and that he would of never sold it to me. Smh i would say they are good for loans only

H Martin1I went to pawn my Charriol diamond Colvmbvs watch. The owner didn't know the brand, wouldn't do research and refused to accept it. Said no one pawned watches anymore! I assumed watches, especially with diamonds were jewelry. Guess not

Christopher Lyerly1The guy laughed in my face when i gave him a price on a used fishing reel that i was looking at. The reel was beat up and priced as a brand new reel
