Canvas Credit Union Writer Square Reviews

Maggie Trimpe1I would rate 0 stars if I could. We came in to refinance our car - they ran our credit etc which was supposed to be good for 60 days. I cannot tell you how many times we called/emailed trying to get an update within those 60 days. We were completely ignored for 2 months. Then they have the audacity to reach out and ask if we still want to move forward but they would need to run our credit again. Biggest joke of a company please go anywhere else but here!!

Ian Drummond1Absolute clown organization. I went to pay off my credit card. First, one cannot pay from their personalized login. SECOND. One must pay from their general website. THE SITE WOULD NOT LET ME PAY $7100 because they do not handle transactions that big. First I tries debit. Then I tried ACH . Can some one get this to the Vice President of Idiocy in the organization ?

Nathan Swain1I’ve banked here almost 10 years. Currently waiting in line to close my account. Their website and mobile apps are down more time than they’re up. Literally every time I need to check my account, there’s a 50/50 chance that it will be down. Call times are high and they outsource agents to third party companies that can only help with very basic things and you get told you need to visit a branch. I’ve been wanting to close the account and move to a reliable CU for a while now - today with everything being down was the last straw. Good riddance.

El5Lovely staff! The customer service experience was stellar. They've also renovated the building and it looks fresh and welcome. I recommend Canvas to anyone looking for a respectable credit union that views you as a human being rather than just another number. Kudos to Cecelia for all her help.

Jesse James1Been a member of Canvas Credit union for several years. The staff at this location are all great and helpful, however the credit union itself is a mess. Starting about 2 years ago payment processing has really gone screwy. Canvas will sometimes not process payments for several days and wait until the balance is low that it will create an overdraft. So for instance if I pay my phone bill on Monday, I have had Canvas wait until Thursday night, before my direct deposit to process this payment. Meanwhile processing all other payments without issue and nearly immediately. Secondly after my card expired I went to the branch to get a new one. They had a employee check my ID outside of the branch before allowing me entry. This wasn’t compared to a list of members and I can’t rationalize why they would need to check my ID before entering a branch location. At the teller yes but the entrance? During COVID it seemed inappropriate to have to speak with a representative who was not assisting in any way and having them handle my ID without gloves. They printed and gave me my new card in the location and advised it was active. However going to use the card it declined. I called the credit union and they advised they would mail me a new card, with the same number and information but then I would have to call a third party to have it activated. This third party then asked for my full SSN which made me uncomfortable. Honestly I’m just tired of jumping through hoops. I can’t imagine another financial institution making me wait 2 weeks to get a new debit card just to then have to provide my full SSN to a third party activation company. Update* Called Canvas directly asking they activate card and they said they could not because it had been locked. I’m not sure how an inactive card could be locked & the customer support agent wasn’t sure either. She attempted to call out to their card management department and told me that the one person working there today was on lunch. After 45 minutes on the call they had to disconnect and tell me they will call me back once the staff member is back from lunch. 🙄 All of this seemed shady and made me uncomfortable, a feeling I most certainly do not want from my financial institution. I will be opening a checking account with another institution and I suggest you do the same.

R B1“Extra Precautions” I’m told repeatedly (.... and repeatedly) is the reasoning the bank ENTRANCE is now congested with staff. It’s why they are now asking for ID before any transaction at the FRONT DOOR for EVERY person banking or not. At the door I now need to discuss why I’m there? Do the people outside the branch (located on 15th between Larimer & Lawrence) really need to know I’m there to cash a check? “Extra precautions” for what and for whom? Because, it’s pandemic times and the extra not social distancing at the front door and the extra touching my ID with your ungloved staff hands doesn’t make sense. I bank here simply because there’s a branch near home and a branch near work. My banking needs are incredibly simple and if my interactions at the front door continue to take longer than my actual banking transactions. I’ll be moving on soon. For now, I’ll be taking “extra precautions” not to come to this branch..... because the branch near home isn’t being so unnecessarily “extra”.

Julie McGinty1I have been with PSCU and now canvas. I will removing all my accounts and money from this horrible company. I have a checking, savings, 2 car loans and a mortgage account. I have a 2016 Chevy Malibu that has died and can not be repaired. I had to find another car and of course still owed money to the loan. I contacted canvas 4 times to discuss what was happening with the Malibu and what I Needed to do. Ever person I spoke with in every department was useless. Long story but the dealership helped find me the best vehicle that a lending company would ok a loan plus the added loan from the Malibu and not be horrible upside down on. All my accounts are in great standings with canvas. Canvas Absolutely refused to work with me and wanted to give me an interest rate of 12%. If this is how they want to treat a outstanding customer. They don’t deserve any customers! Bye bye worthless canvas. My money will be appreciated somewhere else.

Terry L1When this was Public Service Credit Union it was pretty good. As soon as they changed to Canvas it became a mess. The new app is worthless, the website is a mess and the customer “service” is horrible. If you have any other bank within 50 miles go there instead. If this is the only bank close to you, use a shoebox and save yourself some grief.

Blake Manion5I have been with PSCU for the last three years. I use the downtown Denver branch near 16th Street Mall, and the Evans and University location near Denver University. I have also used the branch near 6th Ave and Wadsworth. I switched from US Bank (I was with them for almost 6 years) to PSCU. The employees are always warm and friendly. They are very knowledgable and helpful. I have now switched all of my accounts over and will be starting my business account with them shortly. The website has been updated very well (don't mind the negative reviews stating otherwise). I can access all of my accounts on a computer AND my iphone through their application, no problem. Their website is RARELY down for maintenance (do you know what that means, to maintain?), and it is quick and efficient. They have a mobile deposit feature on the phone as well - super convenient (just like other standard banking institutions). They have a partnership with most other credit unions (this is very important). No hidden account fees or agendas. Great interest rates on credit cards and loans (personal, business and automobile). Yes, if you are an unfamiliar person at a branch, you are questioned numerous times and you must present an ID. I would not expect anything less. My opinion? Most of the reviews below that are negative come off a tad naive and I feel that they misrepresent this Credit Union to an extreme degree. I don't work for the company. I own and operate my own businesses and I am self employed. If you don't like this branch, then try another. But I have never had a problem and I greatly appreciate having such a small and organized credit union in all corners of Denver. thank you

Jenna Brawley5After a long and unwarranted mishap regarding Canvas Credit Union I was literally saved emotionally and mentally by a team member named Briana T. I was so impressed by her competence, empathy, skill and compassion that I felt compelled to share it. She’s wonderful. Thank you so much Briana. All the best, Jenna
