Bank of the West Reviews

Forest in my pocket1Made cash deposit inside of branch (ATM machines were not able to take deposits that day). Teller did not count the money in front of me and verbally verify the amount I had. She stated I was $5 short of what I wrote on the deposit slip AFTER she put the cash in her drawer. I told her that I triple counted it before hand and was certain she was mistaken. Fast forward to when I arrived home. I was not comfortable with my visit and decided to call the bank and ask for her drawer to be counted/audited. I also made the suggestion that she verbally count back cash in front of the customers to verify the amounts (before the cash goes in their drawer). Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to speak with the manager. I was told he was on the phone with another customer and that he would call me back after they audit her drawer. I never got a call back. I’ve been unhappy with BOW customer service for some time. This last visit convinced me that after being a customer for over 10 years, I will be taking my business else where.

chris w1The worst customer service I have ever seen at a bank. The complete disregard for customer attention is just mind blowing. I've been here a few times were the bank reps just flat out say they have no time to help me and they can't make an appointment. You can sit down or wait for a teller and just watch several of them walking around not helping other customers ,and they won't ever even acknowledge your existence.

Bessie Graham5On occasion it’s necessary for me to conduct business inside with bank personnel instead of the ATM. On those occasions, the tellers were professional, friendly, courteous, helpful and displayed excellent customer service.

hitek191Does any execs are anything ever check on their branches maybe like a mystery shopper type thing, it's like they have no idea these as*hol*s are running their business very poorly. I'm a customer calling the Stockton, ca /Pershing avenue branch trying to get instructions on how to transfer money we get disconnected some how I call right back now they don't wanna pick up I call back again and get hung up on mind you I'm a customer simply trying to get assistance from my bank regarding transferring money to my account and this is the service I receive. It's mind boggling these people run these businesses like this and get away with it. It really gives these companies a bad name I'm considering closing my account and going with another bank not my first time having issues with this particular branch either.

Ari M1Took my grandmother to the bank only to have her upset that an employee named ponya was very rude to the staff. Only good thing about the bank was the guy at the door.

Jahquel D. Spain4I recently opened an account with them in January and honestly Norma Jean is extremely helpful. All the staff have great customer service skills. Honestly, the environment and patience this branch has should win them an award if they ever throw a contest.

Sherryl S2The service at this branch and bank overall has gone downhill quickly. I have had to both call in and visit over the last couple of weeks due to issues with their online banking which they acknowledged over the phone and in person. My visit on the 8th of July I spoke about my issues logging in (or inability to) and use Zelle to pay bills and they apologized and said they'd been having issues. I had said I had spoken the night before with customer service on the phone and waited on hold for over a half hour. They had issues with Zelle and their online banking. Looking into the app later on Google Play it has so many reviews relating to the issues I have experienced recently. I was forced to ask for an official check explaining we had just gotten a new place to live and that was why we were trying to use Zelle to do a direct transfer. The failed payment showed on the account with the available funds and it was not our fault it failed. The teller still charged a fee and for a cashier's check instead of the cheaper money order (it was for $500) which I found out later it could have been done. Fine, it's an issue but not a huge one. It only makes me feel like I don't matter enough to pay attention to my money and the fees I'm receiving. Fast forward to the next Saturday, same issue was still happening. I kept calling and asking why but received the same run around AND wait times. They even asked me as soon as answering if I had waited long due to their issues. I returned to the branch because I had no access to the app again for payments. The teller wanted to, in front of the line of customers, keep saying that she just logged into online banking. I showed her my screenshot of my last login saying "unauthorized". At that point I really didn't feel like arguing or going into a discussion about how I had already been on hold with their customer service or why I made the effort to be driven down on a Saturday AGAIN for fun to do all of this. Our recent change of address and need for specific types of payments caused us to have to do the checks again (preference of the payee). Each time I have ever been into the Pershing branch I have had to wait in line and listen to the phone ring off of the hook practically. The tellers are helping customers but the other side will usually not try to answer phones or move across to help them in any way they can. They don't acknowledge customers. It feels very unfriendly. When my grandmother used to bring me to local branches as a kid, they were all very friendly and treated you like family. I have moved everything I have out of my accounts so far and I am waiting to see how we continue to be treated. There are so many other options out there today and I think I will look for someone who at least cares.

Lupe Villalba1This bank sucks so bad I can't even believe that it had won a price for great customer service. The girl that was in charge there didn't want to open an account for me because it was 5:30pm on a Friday and they close at 6:00... She was lazy!!!!!!!! I went to Wells fargo around the corner and they helped me even after the bank close. And can you imagine that bank of the west doesn't even think about installing a bullet proof system after so many robberies? Heck, I'm glad I didn't open an account with them, I don't want to be in the middle of another one like the poor lady that was used as a human shield.
