Bank of the West Reviews

Julie Lin5This review is only for the person I spoke to, not a reflection of the bank or customer service overall. I wanted to close my bank account since I felt that there were many restrictions with this bank. I value ease of online banking, and I less restrictions overall. I spoke to a lady on the phone named: Roxanne Sanchez, she was great. I called her only after the general customer service line was full with unusual "high volume." Roxanne was great. I'm still closing my account, but Roxanne did a great job explaining things to me. Unfortunately, I still have to go into the branch to close the account, which in this day and age, it's tedious to have to drive somewhere and wait in line.

Steve Shook1Can't give negative numbers or I would. Not sure what it is about the help here. I've been banking with the bank before they were Bank of the West. Branch in Rancho has great people. The help at this branch is humanley rude at least to me they were.

Peggy Evelysse Delgado1I closed my account with this bank last year. Bank of the West holded my check for 12 days for no reason. They stated that "there are times when a hold is placed on your deposit". I started to get overdraft fees until it reached $195 in charges and they refused to release any money . I had to ask to borrow money to a friend for groceries, my car battery died and again no money for it,my credit card payment was late and I had to pay $35 late fee plus points taken from my credit score. They had no compassion and still kept my check on hold. When I went to the West Covina branch to ask for my account to be closed, the manager Michael was at lunch. Later on he called me and while I was explaining my frustrating situation he yelled at me "go and buy your battery now" .I was so in shock that did not know what to say. Fast forward almost one year - I needed a letter stating that my account with them was closed. I went to the branch and Michael was the teller at that moment. He told me there was not such thing as a letter stating that and that all my information was deleted from the system. I could tell the teller (Asian lady) was pointing at some solution to help me ,but he was telling her "no". I called the main number of Bank of the West and the customer service rep was very surprised that he did not helped me. I went to the Covina branch and what a difference. The teller gave me all the documents that I needed. I feel bad for the Asian lady that works there. She is the only one that looks nice and acts professional. I am surprise this bank is still open. Is dark and musty smelling. The surroundings are not well kept either. But most importantly the customer service is horrible. I have never come across with such lack of professionalism.

Patrick Dominguez1I went in two weeks ago to order a replacement debit card. When it didn’t arrive in 7-10 business days I went back to follow up. They said it was never ordered. Apparently the teller who assisted me didn’t place the order. Now I have to wait another 7-10 business days. Unacceptable.
