Atlantic Federal Credit Union Reviews

Dee Barrows5SERIOUSLY... The best banking partner I have ever had. I recently moved accounts and had a laundry list of things I needed... overall, a bank that makes my life easier, not harder. Atlantic FCU over-delivers on everything. The on-line platform allows me to see at a glance every account I have... makes transferring simple. The Customer Service is amazing. If there's anything more to ask for, I can't think of it.
Response from the ownerWow! Thank you so much for all the kind words, Dee. We genuinely want to help our members do better, and we're happy we were able to do that for you.

John1They are one of the hardest banks to get loans from make over 60k a year and have great credit but somehow can't have a 5k loan pretty stupid of a place to not allow credit to be built at a credit union

Luka Baskett5I love this credit union! The staff is always friendly and extremely helpful and available. I have never had trouble with anything that couldn't be fixed within a day. The interest incentives they have are amazing and I've made a lot of money. This is where I set up my first independent account, and I am so glad I did!!!
Response from the ownerThank you, Luka, for sharing your experience and for the five stars!

Cindy Robertson5I visited this credit union yesterday and found other customers well spaced and masked as were all emoyees. I was warmly greeted by the teller (we need to find a more adequate name for the knowlegeable people who help customers with their banking issues) and my particular issues were dealt with in a friendly and eficient manner. The gentleman was so helpful that I had no concerns that my transactions were complete with virtually no effort on my part. Highly recommend this banking institution.
Response from the ownerThank you Cindy. I agree, we have a great staff

Nicole Nelson2I used to love banking with Atlantic Regional, but in the past year, service has gone completely downhill. I now find them harder to reach, completely unable to help in situations that were previously easy to resolve in the past, and I find my debit card held nearly every time I make an online purchase that is outside of New England, which seems laughable in 2020. I'll be switching to Bank of America where I know my money is good worldwide.
Response from the ownerHi Nicole, I am sorry to hear about your experience. We should not be difficult to reach. I would love to learn more and see how I can help. My name is Chris and my extension is 6117.

Sarah Mulcahy5The best bank. I love how they are client-centered. They go above and beyond for their people. No other bank I've been a member of has done that. There is an uncommonly good element of compassion with AFCU. Everyone I've dealt with has been professional and personable. Special shoutout to Anne in Cumberland & Kim in Brunswick! A+ bank.
Response from the ownerThank you for the kind words Michelle!

Caleb Chiasson2Debit card system is trash. Can't access my money, all weekend. Done banking with you guys. This is BS.
Response from the ownerHi Caleb - I get the frustration. Were you having a problem with your card or with the ATM machine at the branch? Please give a call to the contact center 800.834.0432 so we can help figure it out.

Andy Klaft1Made an online purchase on a Friday afternoon, and AFCU locked my account for the duration of the weekend. Very unpleased with their fraudulent charge policy. There was no notification that my account had been locked, nor had they notified me to confirm if it was a fraudulent charge or not, their automatic system just assumed. IF I SEE A CHARGE THAT I DIDNT MAKE I WILL NOTIFY YOU, otherwise leave my account alone!
Response from the ownerAndy, so sorry that this happened. Our fraud policy is to call the cardholder when there is an issue. The challenge is when we do not have updated information on file. We understand you have already contacted our Card Services Department and your contact information has been corrected! Thank you for reaching out.

scott pettingill1HEADS UP FOLKS OF JOINT ACCOUNTS Today 7/17/2018 I had called into the office to Atlantic this morning to make a rental payment to my landlord and the agent had told me that my account has been closed. I had asked why and who had closed it and they she had said my ex-wife had come in and closed it and took off with $4,325.26 without me knowing without her ever having any activity to the account in almost four years. I had asked Atlantic Regional to please contact my ex wife and have her kindly return the funds that were not hers that I had worked so hard for. The response I got was, "I'll think about it". Abviously after hearing this, as you all must know that I was completely SHOCKED that Atlantic Regional would actually allow a person with no recent activity to the account and no longer a any part of this family, would allow someone to waltz in and take money that does not belong to her. It's almost like stealing someone's money folks, we are no longer husband and wife, so let me caution anyone one that does have a joint account here, to be fully aware of what went on here today. I would for your own interest open up your own personal account for the safety of your own income. I had tried to remove my ex wife name from the account, but was unsuccessful and if not, open a new account but was not successful again. So in good faith wanted to stay with Atlantic and kept the account open, but little did I know the my ex wife would actually stoop this low and steal money that did not belong to her at all!!! I at this point am no longer associated with this bank any longer, but CAUTION anyone especially family members or husband and wife to be aware of scams such as this. Sincerley, Scott Pettingill
Response from the ownerHi Scott. We are sorry to hear of your unfortunate situation. Yes, joint accounts can be tricky in a divorce.

David MacLelland4Staff is super friendly and very helpful. Pedestrian parking is inconvenient and awkward to enter the main entrance. You have to cross the drive through.
Response from the ownerThanks David. Yes indeed a great staff led by our branch manager Dawn.
